First public hint of DCC RPG?

I was doing some archival searching in Google and came across this post a couple years ago where Joseph hints at a DCC RPG in the forums. Was this the first actual talk of it in the public?

I gotta say, it probably wouldn't matter what rules were contained in DCC RPG - I'd still be all over the adventures you guys publish.

That has to be one of the first public threads on the topic. I know that I first heard about DCC through a few back-door channels and asked about it, only to have Joseph deny that such a thing was in development. Then word started to leak out through a few old-school blogs. I'd have to go back to look at dates, but I'd say that one is pretty close to the genesis.

This is like CSI:Aereth. :)

It is fascinating to read things as they were happening, and to see how plans/perceptions change.

Was that the game before opening at Gary Con 2? The one that involved a lot of beer, the night before the con officially started, before any of the tables were set up? I think there were like 8 players and we played through Portal Under the Stars. I still remember that game...it was a blast. That's the reason I love Gary Con...it's all about the gaming, nevermind all the other stuff, and there are always a bunch of guys around ready to roll dice! (And drink beer.)

Anyway, back on topic, it is interesting seeing this "blast from the past" thread. In retrospect some of the commentary seems like foreshadowing...but "in the moment" it was a bunch of ideas still coming together.

I think Allan Sugarbaker's blog ( http://ogrecave.com/ ) was the first public mention on an outside site...Allan played in a session at DunDraCon 2010, if I remember correctly.
