LUCK in the Hobbit and other Ns

Hey, I was listening to the Tolkien Professor's awesome lecture on the Hobbit today ( http://www.tolkienprofessor.com/rss_feed.xml ) and he was talking about the role of Luck in that story, how Bilbo sometimes considers it one of his attributes etc. Of course it made me think of this game.
So tell me Joseph, were you thinking of this particular example when deciding to use a Luck stat? Other examples from the literature?
