Whiterock Crystal Ball (broken)

Post by Warduke »

so if the authors won't spill their guts, we might as well speculate

500 pages = a mega dungeon or adventure path. but goodman games is coming out with saga of the dragon path, so i doubt they would follow on the heels of that with another one so quickly.

so mega dungeon it is. 500 pages would constitute a huge level spread, and goodman games is consistent about offering low level adventures (thank you!) so if this follows suit it would begin low and run to as high as the product will permit.

500 pages is also more material than the aereth boxed set, so the price must be higher too. up from $69 to a $99 product, maybe? worth it, in my opinion, given the quality of the dcc line and knowledge that thats a whole lotta dungeon crawlin.

also, the name has intriguing implications. whiterock = white roc = color + bird = grey hawk = greyhawk. so is this goodman game's version of the infamous castle greyhawk? given the release of escape from the forest of lanterns, maybe there will be a tie in just as the rumors of castle greyhawk and dungeonland/land beyonf the magic mirror.

i think stroh posted that it wasn't his adventure, and monte did the same. so who are we left with? ferguson, lasala, and doyle seem the most obvious choices from the regular stable of writers, but maybe they have some young blood in the wings who has a mega dungeon to bring us.

what else are we missing? oh yeah, goodman's chinese heart attack.

* scrambles *

Well, Jeff did post this:

"Coffee is a Goodman Games writer's friend. 'Tis the Nectar of the Gods of Áereth."

* reads into comment waaaaaaaaaaay too far *

Oh yeah, baby--oh yeah. This is gonna be 500 pages of pure Columbian gold.

Actually, Ken Hart wrote this (my emphasis):
"Yeah, and everything I've edited to date looks awesome. Now if only I can make my Wisdom check to successfully check the continuity of a 500-page, massively multi-leveled dungeon...."

Say, do I get a Stan Lee-style No-Prize for that? If so, I chose to get more spoilers as my prize.

Please.

Beggin' you.

PLEASE.

(Does it make you feel good to know you already virtually possess my bank account for the next several years, Goodman Games?!?)

to repeat my speculation from another thread:
mountain keep, red dragon, dwarven ruler - an attack of Azaegal's Hold? Death to the Mountain King and his draconic ally?

Did we mention that it's set in the Morrain area and includes a gazetteer?

Coincidentally, this was one of my favorite lands of the Northlands.

Castle Whiterock

Post by PlagueLord »

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

From DC 35:

"Within a day’s ride of Cillamar rise the skeletal ruins of
Whiterock Castle. Lady Chauntessa, a mysterious sorceress
and the proprietor of the Inn of the Slumbering
Drake, often hires young adventurers to explore the
Castle’s labyrinthine dungeons. Local legends tell of a
fearsome dragon, the great Benthosruthsa, who is said to
lair in the ruins. Regardless of the truth of the rumors, the
expeditions are fraught with peril, and few of Lady
Chauntessa’s expeditions ever return."

Hmmmm, as someone who didn't really like the DCC setting, it's kind of disappointing that gazetteers will be included in DCC products, rather than on their own (and thus I could avoid buying them). Oh well.

yep, *love* the gazetteer idea!

...BTW: could you *please* give us at least the level range for this product?
4-12? 8-16? 7-14? 11-20? ??
I need to know this to plan my campaign accordingly!!!!

Level 1-15. No joke... it's designed to start with 1st level PCs and take them up to 15th level.
