Eighth session experience....

Session Eight, Here we go. All players present.

The paladin/knight stayed in the temple to his goddess as usual, the other 2 stayed at the inn. He realized the next morning that the priest was not in. He went asking and eventually found a small boy that had been playing late the previous night who saw the priest leave the temple a couple hours after dark and head towards the northeastern gate. He then went looking for the night guard to see if the priest actually left. He found the guard but he was sleeping so he asked the sister of the guard to let him know he wanted to speak to him when he awoke.

The 2 PCs questioned a different town gate guard about languages that different people could speak and/or read/write in the town. They then went to speak to the headman. He was dealing w/an incoming trader and ignored them. The paladin/ranger then decided to go into the forest alone and try to find the druid.

The mystic went to the temple to find the paladin/knight. He unfortunately stumbled upon 3 assassins that where in the temple. He was taken by complete surprise by 2 of them and only simple surprise by the 3rd. He fought well mixing magic and weapons play but was struck down in the 3rd/4th round. He did manage to take one of the assassins w/him. Thankfully the river tower guard heard the ruckus when it started and started ringing the warning bell so the paladin/knight (who was on his way back already) and the northeast tower guards were able to respond. The paladin/ knight burst into the temple in the same round as the mystic warrior went down. He opened fire w/his bow. The next round the 2 remaining assassins charged in for close combat. He (being a PC) went first and shot one of the assassins staggering him back. He then drew his sword. He killed one of the assassins w/his first blow from his sword( The one previously wounded). The 2 tower guards had arrived and also struck at the remaining assassin (Armor soaked it easily...terrible rolls). Next round the paladin/knight smacked the last standing assassin hard (Great roll!) which gave the assassin the thought that he should be leaving now. He attacked and laid low one of the gate guards as a distraction and then ran. The paladin/knight dropped his sword and fired an arrow into the running assassin further wounding him (attack of opportunity). The assassin makes it to the window and crashes through it into the river. The paladin/knight pursued and managed to spot the target and fire. I ruled that the water would have at least a d6 against the harm but the paladin still managed to kill the assassin(Actually the assassin went to 0 HP which is unconscious for standard creatures in my game, but since he was in the water, he ended up drowning anyway). The paladin/knight then turned and bandaged/healed his fallen comrade and the tower guard. The mystic was at -1 when he went down. He bleed until -7 I think. Thankfully he can go to -12 (D6 each in endurance and resistance). Still a close call.

The paladin/ranger was hit w/a grasping thorns spell while in the woods. He continued to walk calling the druid. After a few rounds he finally left the area and the grasping thorns attack stopped. He was unable to locate a caster. He turned back to the town and found out what had gone on.

Together again, they did some investigating. The paladin/knight has become suspicious that the Headman might have something to do w/the trouble. He has alerted his comrades to this and that is were they left off for the session.

It was a good session. Split parties are always a bit to handle and for a while I had a 3 way split. :)
But because the system is easy, it wasn't real bad. They all managed to survive and seem to be still enjoying it. That is, I haven't gotten anything thrown at me yet....

Edit: I forgot to say no game this week.

It seems that rules issues are nonexistent at this point in your game. I am surprised they haven't gotten beyond 2nd level is eight sessions. I'd expect they'd be third or forth by now. Maybe it's because they are, for the most part, plowing through the encounters? :?:

The only complaint I have with your session summaries is that I want to play... :P

There are several reasons they are not higher:

1. Kinda short sessions so we don't get through much in each session

2. I often forget to award RPs cause I am distracted easily

3. They have plowed through most encounters so the VPs tend to come far between.

I didn't give out exp this last game cause we ran out of time but I assume it will get most of them close to lvl'ing again. We shall see.

In a way these session summaries help me to remember what has gone before as well. I should probably copy them each to a separate word file as well....I think I will go do that just in case.... :)
