The Dungeon’s Gonna Getcha

(Adapted from The Little Orphan Annie by James Whitcomb Riley)

DJ Creature Feature’s been hired for the Games.
To kill a bunch of Crawlers and give out gold and Fame.
To poison every door knob and trap each treasure chest
so the NAE can find out which Xcrawl team’s the best.
So you’d better bring your A game and pick your spells with care,
and get the bestest cleric who can save you from despair.
And you just may discover what the Xcrawl’s all about
cause the Dungeons gonna getcha if ya don't watch out!

Once there was a specialist who thought she was immune.
to toxic gas and arrow traps and all Exploding Runes.
The wizard heard her holler and the cleric heard her fall,
but when the smoke and flash died down,
she wasn't there at all!
They searched all through the break rooms
and every corridor
but all they ever found was a black stain on the floor.
They divvied up her treasure; they were left without a doubt
that the Dungeons gonna getcha if ya don't watch out!!

Once there was a cleric who was stingy with his spells
and he hid behind the fighter but refused to cure his ills.
And once when there were lizard men and every one was down,
he kept his potions to himself and let a halfling drown.
And just as he turned on his heels to find a No Go door,
a Troll ripped out his jugular; the cleric was no more.
That troll made the highlight reel and earned endorsement clout,
and the dungeons gonna getcha if ya don't watch out!!

When the action gets hairy,
and the blood runs red
and the giants aren’t dying but your ranger’s half-dead:
you better share the Mojo and keep your instincts clean
and double check for traps and sometimes take one for the team
Cause the zombies and the ogres just might set your team to rout,
and the Dungeon’s gonna getcha if ya don't watch out!!!

Wow this thing just done took off ain't it? Well I gotta keep it going, I came up with this one this morning. DJ La Boss needs to hire a local band and have them do covers of all the songs we come up with and then put out an XCrawl Greatest Hits Album.

It's an idea for a new product

The Drow do not live in a Matriarchy.
They live in a Psycho-b!tchiarchy.
Look at their patron deity, Lolth.
Lolth is a crazy teenage girl who really hates the funny feelings that boys give her so she beats them, devours them, and then cries about why no one wants to talk to her.
Sometimes she want's to be nice, but she just can't give up that 'necro-goth' spasm-anger image she worked so hard to build.
She wants to go to the prom, but everyone will make fun of her, so she'll just light their houses on fire and kill their babies instead.
Her hair is black this week, blue next week, and shaved clean off the week after that.
All the while, she's killing everyone who looks at her, everyone who ignores her, everyone who worships her, and everyone who forsakes her.
She's practically a goth cheerleader.

These are utterly hilarious! I would love to get a CD of these songs to mix in with the soundtrack I usually use for playing XCrawl with my friends. I had an idea for all these "Greatest Hits." Is there any way that we could see them pulished? Maybe one per book/module? It would give lots of credit to the fan base, increase fan loyalty, and show the world how creative the fans are. Just a thought!

Hi All,

I got the chance to experiment with a few songs, and create a wonderful atmosphere in a dungeon. The DJ I created was DJ Casey Kaysome, a DJ with a twisted sense of humor, and a real knack for finding songs that fit each room of the dungeon. Here are a few of the rooms and songs he created for the dungeon.

Artist – Song – Room or Challenge
Carl Douglas – Kung Fu Fighting – 3-2nd Level Kobold Monks, and 1-4th Level Kobold Monk.
Camera Obscura – Let’s Go Bowling – The characters find themselves used as pins in a bowling alley. Balls are being thrown by Orc Fighters dressed as ‘50’s Greasers. The characters must them slip and slide down the 60' length of the alley to the "greasers" to engage them in combat.
Bobby Darin – Splish Splash – One lucky character has to give a goblin toddler a bath.
Brave Combo – Hokey Pokey – The characters must round up a bunch of zombies, and get them back in their coffins while the zombies keep trying to escape.
John Denver – Grandma’s Feather Bed – Pillow fight with a bunch of orc fighters, knocking them off a huge feather bed.
Chicago – Look Away – A fight against a Medusa (The one from DungeonCrawl Brooklyn).
Weird Al Yankovic – Eat It (or any other of his “food songs”) – 1 character must participate in an eating contest.
The Animals – We Gotta Get Outta This Place – As they are running for the exit of the dungeon

We had more laughs that game, and everyone really enjoyed the dungeon. We also got to introduce Xcrawl to a whole store full of people! It was an "extreme" success for the Extreme Dungeon Crawl League!

Yet another song that really doesn't need to be changed for the XCrawl. I see this as DJ Devastator's intro music as he is hell bent on revenge against all the XCrawlers.
