Here's what I have came up with....
A Female British Pseudoscientist named Adaline Mason invents a dimensional travel machine that allows a person to travel into alternate realites. Adaline one day passes through the schism but only to find herself in a Earth that she no longer recigonizes and is a much darker/hellish nightmare compaired to her own world....Our own timeline (perhaps somewhere around the late 21st, 22nd & 23rd Centuries)
