Fun equipment

Post by Arek »

So I've been looking around my various resources (Planewalker.com, the DnD Wiki), and I've found some nice stuff. Some of it would fit very well into Dragonmech, and others are just cool, so I'm going to post some here, along with some pieces of my own invention, in the hopes that we'll get something going here...

Chocolate (Blessed Candy)
This piece of delicious milk chocolate has had its creamy, caramel centre blessed by a powerful priest of an unnamed power of good. Eating it will confer this blessing upon the devourer, in the form of a Bless spell. Consuming the chocolate is a partial action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity.
Type Wonderous Item, Magical
Market Value: 150 gp's
Craft Level: 3rd
Craft Prerequisites:
Creation Cost: 75 gp's, 6 XP
Weight :Negligible

Hell's Chains (Kyton Bracers)
These bracers appears to be made up of barbed chains that wrap around the forearms, with several chains dangling a short way and ending in a hook or blade.
These chains were taken from slain kytons, and the inherent magic of those creatures used to enchant the bracers with their qualities.

The wearer has mental control over the chains, and can order them to extend up to 15 feet long and attack in place of his normal attacks.

This gives him two attacks at his base attack bonus, dealing damage of d8+3 with each hit (they count as +2 weapons for hitting creatures with damage reduction).

The user can also animate the extended chains to do other things, such as manipulate objects - he could pick up a cup and bring it to his hand with a chain for instance, although he can only use one chain from each bracer at a time for this sort of action.

The hooked chains can also aid in climbing by acting like grapnels and digging into the surface being climbed, giving a +5 circumstance check to any Climb skills being made while wearing these bracers.

Type Wonderous Item, Magical
Market Value: 12,000 gp's
Craft Level: 9th
Craft Prerequisites:
Creation Cost: 6,000 gp's, 480 XP
Weight :1 lb

Anarchist's Gauntlet
Members of the Revolutionary League often make use of gauntlets of this type, which appear as large and metal clad gloves.
In fact, under the surface are hidden a series of small compartments which hold various thieves tools and small implements; when commanded they protrude from the glove's fingertips for use.
This gives the wearer a +10 circumstance bonus to any Open Locks and Disable Device skill checks.

Type Gauntlet, Magical
Market Value: 6,000 gp's, usually only available to Anarchists
Craft Level: 5th
Craft Prerequisites:
Creation Cost: 3,000 gp's, 240 XP
Weight :1 lb

Infodex

The Infodex appears to be something of a heavy tome, opened vertically instead of horizonally and made of solid wood, leather cover, and two metal plates on the inside surface and pinned in place. The top plate possesses a swirl of light textured engravings and runes, and the bottom contains something of a keyboard, although its letters are blank. A crystal is embedded in the front of the book.

The Infodex is a communication and display device used to contact others with other Infodexes, and contact certain compatible targets which possess the same marks as the Infodex. When active it projects a small Major Image, which illuminates the keyboard with the appropriate letters and gives a screen with a series of buttons pre-programmed into it. Communication can occur by text via typing or by visual and voice, where the other Infodex's user appears as an illusion on the screen. It remains active until the unit is closed. If the connected target in question is not on the same plane of existence as you are, there is a 5% chance that the connection fails. (Local conditions on other planes may worsen this chance considerably.)

When first created, the Infodex is 'unbound'. You specify which target you wish to connect to, and from that point on you may communicate with this target as much as you want (the target is typically another Infodex, but certain creatures are sometimes compatible). This assignment is permanent and cannot be changed afterward.

Moderate divination; CL 11th, Price 4,000 gp.
Prereqs: Craft Wondrous Item, Programmed Image, Sending
Cost to Create: 2,000gp, 80 XP, 2 Days

Mask of the Reptile
Originally made by a wizard inspired by an extraplanar reptilian race he encountered, the Mask of the Reptile is a leather half-mask, held on by a couple of buckled straps, that surrounds the mouth. When donned, it adheres closely to the skin and takes on a semi-reptilian texture. The wearer of the mask can use Acid Splash at will, simply by spitting at a target with intent to hit (this takes a standard action). This mask is prized by stalkers, who can use this continuous source of acid to slowly damage the parts of a mech.

Faint Evocation, CL 1, Price 900 gp
Prereqs: Craft Wondrous Item, Acid Splash
Cost to Create: 450 gp, 36 XP, 1 day
