When we wrote it, we assumed it was a normal book. Has anyone heard otherwise?

It's a normal book, unless something has changed recently. It's still scheduled for a September release according to Barnes & Noble, and they don't sell PDFs.

found
This while poking around on amazon a bit ago
entered Dragonmech as my search criteria and that was the 4th result
i also did a search by author for joseph goodman, and half the books listed are books outside the realm of D&D
you never told us you knew anything about metalithography, Diabetes or Depression (either the mental state or the financial one...)
