Very nice way to start up a campaign! And what a campaign at that!
I will send my players onwards to Edge after that and then who knows. The three Shards may well give them mysterious clues now-and-then. Shar Thizdic will be looking for the spheres too, more as a possibility to install himself as a God than anything else. The other 'major political players' will be wanting the shards to prevent him from doing so and not to upset the 'status quo'. (Re.: Shar Thizdic, I'll play him very much like Hitler, charismatic and entirely convincing in person, but with goals and issues not compatible with any normal sense of humanity or morals.)
Ahh so much inspiration, so little time to play....
