Fireballing a mech

I'm starting to gm a new dragonmech game and I just can't seem to figure out what happens when you do energy attacks to mechs. Does fire do only half damage to mechs does hardness apply. Or is it just treated like any other attack and does normal damage minus hardness?

Short version: Mechs count as objects for purposes of energy attacks, so fire would normally do half damage. You make the call as to whether hardness applies, depending on the size of the mech and whether the hardness comes from size or construction.
