Yes indeed. Last year's tournament is scheduled for release as #30 -- in stores June, so you can prepare for this year, which will feature an all-new tournament. Start sharpening your sword...

Tourney question

Post by Damien the Bloodfeaster »

I have a question about the 3-round tournament...

When I went to sign up, I noted that rounds 2 and 3 require one to sign up for them--i.e., they were not listed as restricted to invitation only for people not eliminated in previous rounds.

I went ahead and signed up for the 2nd and 3rd rounds, just in case. But is it your intention that these should be open slots for anyone to join in, or were they to be restricted? If the latter, I assume GenCon should be informed so they can make changes/refunds if need be. Or am I missing something here?

GenCon Command made a mistake when they posted the tournament.
Like in previous years, rounds 2 and 3 are invite-only; you have to qualify to advance.

Joseph is aware of the situation and has contacted GenCon Command about it.

Just out of curiousity, who is running the DragonMech game?

Gen Con is fixing the round 2 and 3 situation. Those were supposed to be closed events, available only to people who advance in round 1.

The DragonMech game is being run by Ken Hart. There's also this guy Dieter who did a good job last year, but he won't be there this year... :)

I'm very much looking forward to Gen-Con this year. I've got band-aids on my fingers this year from writing... ...well only one and it's from something else, but I've done a lot of writing. Four whole days where I'm not thinking - 'I could be writing'. And I'll be DMing Etherscope: Just a Delivery.

I would like to DM some dragonmech, but it's probably too late and I'll be just as happy if I manage to sneak into a game or two as a player.

And guess who is doing the maps?? Wheee!!!

The Tournament plus full color maps (ie, no wasted time drawing out maps) will be totally kick butt!!!

Hope you guys enjoy my maps!

Superfan always does quality work, but what he's done for the tourney so far is a-ma-zing!

I get a wee bit giddy when I think about rolling those bad boys out and plunking down some minis.

Sorry you won't make it this year, Dieter. Should be a Good TimeTM.

Yup, Superfan is doing the "Halls of the Minotaur," too. :) Can't freakin' wait to see what he comes up with. Now I need to find myself a kick-butt minotaur mini to scare the pants off the PCs.

Mythfish! Sorry to hear you won't make it.

Harley, I've got a good gaming shop near me. I'll see if I can find you a worthy minotaur!

Jeff, that'd be awesome. Let me know what you find. My nearest gaming store is 3.5 hours away and over 2 mountain passes. :)

I'm also thinking of ordering the Warbands Minotaur produced by WoTC.

Toth-Ror is on the schedule for a DCC mini -- I should have the green to display at Gen Con.

Oh, sweet!

Joseph, what makes you decide which monsters to choose? Any criteria? Like, do you make minis of the most memorable monsters from the DCC line?

Part of it is what will be visually interesting, part of it is what miniatures people need (everybody can use a minotaur), part of it is what else is in the line... and other such things.
