Re: DELAYED ACTIONS in DCCRPG?

The readied action doesn't always work, it gives you the possibility of it working in the form of an attack roll.

Re: Alignment

I agree law. Some helpful resources would be to google Michael Moorcock and check out the wiki on Eternal Champion and more specifically the hyperlink to Law and Chaos. Also googling Law and Choas Alignment brings up some good stuff. Adventurer Conqueror King System also has a good description of La...

Re: Walking into the Den of Bias ;)

DCC is great in that you can learn the rules in stages. The zero level PC funnel is great because its like a rules lite version of the game. Once they reach first level the game opens up, but you can always have them take longer to reach first level or just let them know some classes have more chart...

I kept the zero =s dead in my running of the adventure. After all the purpose of the funnel is PC Darwinism.

Re: Doom of Savage Kings in 15 minutes **** Spoilers****

The potential for the adventure is there. IF the hound is slain while bound it dies. The entry for the hound says it has 20HP. Two first level characters can do that much damage in one round. (My adventure didn't end there. I was reflecting on the possibility that it could. I was trying to run somet...

Re: Doom of the Savage Kings - I missed the boat?

There has been a free RPG taste on free RPG day. Unjust would have rather have seen a new short PDF adventure and kept Doom Of the Savage Kings as the rare paper only artifact.

Doom of Savage Kings in 15 minutes **** Spoilers****

Party approaches Hirot. After trying to extort the Jarl for solving his problem the party scares off the commoners and tell the Jarl that they will take the sacrifices place and combat the hound. The party ambushes the hound. The elf spell burns and casts ropework to constrict the beast, raise him 2...

Re: In the Prison of the Squid Sorcerer now available!

initially I had no interest in this as I thought it was a mind flayer adventure. When I looked into it more and realized it was a series of encounters I was more interested. After picking it up and scrolling around a bit I think there are some good things in here. Worth picking up as a spring board ...

Overland Travel

So I want to convey to my players the difficulty in travel in a medieval fantasy setting and help to demonstrate that travel is hard and thus isolates people from one another. I want them to have to be deliberate and plan routes occasionally or when they are pressing into the unknown. So I quickly b...

Re: what to do with problem players

I make the spell caster describe the spell using his unique manifestation of it and then describe how it damages the creature. I have found that if I jsut lean back and say "describe it to us" and then follow it up with "cool man" we all enjoy it better. I lucked out because I ha...

Re: what to do with problem players

You could start giving away XP or temporary luck to players who are being creative or descriptive with their actions. This may get your other player involved. He may not care or get into it either way but it may cause the other players to step up and avoid the malaise. As an example I gave out a fre...

Actions on contact encounter table?

I need help finding a blog post that someone posted on the boards. The topic of the article was a forest and mountain chart that indicated what the characters were actually doing when an encounter started. Tiring a shoe, telling a joke. I can't for the life of me remember which thread it was linked ...

Re: Who holds the spell charts - GM or PC?

I have my players roll in the open. Then so I am not monopolizing all the conversation I have them narrate how the spell manifests and what happens. I have them do the same thing with crits. I have found that this expands the narrative input to the players and allows them to feel special and involve...

Re: DELAYED ACTIONS in DCCRPG?

Here is the solution to this that I have come up with in my game: Readied Actions: characters may state an if/then action instead of using their action die in their initiative order. Parry: In lieu of using armor class and dex bonus a character may make an attack roll to to set the DC# for an enemy ...

This is what I used. Mithril Armor & Weapons Armor: - Penalty Check reduced by 2 - Fumble die -1D - Cost x150% - Armor damaged in combat reduced to 15% for recovery Mithril Armor forged for demihumans may be resized for others by an expert armorer skilled in mithril use and with the available ma...

Re: number of Charaters per Player

My first instinct was to cull the herd down to one character per player so that they could focus their efforts on that character and then let them get some henchmen. The reboot however I let them keep all their characters. I figured if they survived they deserved to keep playing them. I am however n...

I take undead traits to mean, " X are un-dead, and thus can be turned by clerics. They do not eat, drink, or breathe, and are immune to criti-cal hits, disease, and poison. As un-dead, they are immune to sleep, charm, and paralysis spells, as well as other mental effects and cold damage" W...
