A bit off topic but here's an interesting article from Wired about Reaper's mega successful Kickstarter.

Re: Best Reading Locales for Appendix N?
I read LotR in the fall when I had just turned 14, it was the first fantasy literature I had ever read. Two places come to mind every time I see the book's cover. The Hobbit, I remember staying w/ my Grandparents for a week and my Grandmother had picked up The Hobbit and the trilogy for me at my req...

Re: Show off your Appendix N
Hey Caveman, I love the covers to those early editions of LotR. I have 2 of 'em and the early cover of The Hobbit. In high school ('78?) I had a t-shirt w/ the trilogy artwork from that edition on it. Wish I could find another (2 sizes bigger now).

Re: Kickstarter for D&D Documentary
Crowd funding for games has definitely shifted where a lot of the money I can spend ends up. There's a lot of really great new games out there and a lot of great deals too. I do think it's kind of unfortunate that established game companies are using Kickstarter and Indie-Go-Go to fund their project...

Re: Appendix N Comic Books
WOW...Prophet. I checked out an issue and man that's AWESOME! Art has a total Moebius Vibe. Pacing is pure Druilett. Reference points from the 60's through early 70s abound. Reminds me a bit of Jodorowsky and Pierre Bolle's original Planet of the Apes novel (which the 1968 movie was only loosely bas...

Yeah, I saw the clips and thought it looked great. Definitely want to see this movie happen.

As if I didn't already have too much to read, you've just made me want to go reread Cerebus!

Re: Appendix N Comic Books
Good choices. Savage Sword sparked my interest in fantasy / sword and sorcery. I've recently started to revisit the magazine from the beginning. Northlanders is really intense. The few issues I've read remind me of R E Howard's stories in Tigers of the Sea . I forgot to include Prince Valient in my ...

Appendix N Comic Books
I was reading Lone Sloane / Delirius by Phillipe Druillet this morning and thought, 'WOAH, this is packed w/ great ideas drenched w/ the flavor of Appendix N!'. Druillet's work was a staple of the sci-fi fantasy magazine, Heavy Metal , in the 70's. While his work is primarily sci-fi, it could easily...

Re: Books that should be in Appendix N
WOW, can't believe Alan Burt Akers, pseudonym of Kenneth Bulmer, hasn't been mentioned yet. 37 Dray Prescott novels published between '72 & '88. Sword & Planet fiction set on the planet Kregan. The 1st few Gor novels are worth reading. As the series went on Norman's sexual role playing inter...

Re: Curious about the DCC RPG crowd...
Voted '82 but realized I actually started in '80 w/ my brother and a friend in my Grandmother's garage w/ AD&D. That made my friend and me 18 and my brother 14.

Re: Appendix N music
Did anyone notice the title of a book on the shelf of the magic user's study on page 105 in DCC RPG? It's on the back wall to the left. The only volume with a legible title written on the spine is "Hawkwind"!

Re: Appendix N type movies.
Fantastic Planet, YES! I thought I'd be the only one to mention it. I've been thinking of creating stats for all the plants & creatures in that movie. Guess I ought to do it. Hammer has a bunch of movies that should be on this list, but the #1 Appendix N film has got to be, Capt. Kronos: Vampire...
