Re: Please take a look at my Half-orc class
I like all the descriptions and abilities of the Half-Orc described here, other than Brutish Deeds of Arms. I don't care so much for another deed mechanic, since the Warrior and Dwarf already implement this so well. Is this one supposed to be limited to only what is listed? I ask because the Warrior...

Canadians?
It seems to me the OSR crowd in Canada is quite booming. How many here are Canadians?
I'm in Edmonton, Alberta myself. Would be cool if there were some DCC gamers close by.

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Hi all! I've been a lurker on these forums for a few months now, ever since I read a Play-By-Forum play of Portal Under the Stars using the Beta rules on RPGGeek.com . Since I started reading the rules I've been a little more active and hope to contribute some good discussion to the game and its sup...

Re: Appendix N music
Did anyone notice the title of a book on the shelf of the magic user's study on page 105 in DCC RPG? It's on the back wall to the left. The only volume with a legible title written on the spine is "Hawkwind"! I see it! But it's not the only legible title... I see "Gygax" as well...

Re: Mighty Deeds - how do you judge them?
I think it depends on what the Warrior intends to do and I would cross-reference that with the examples provided in the book. For example, skewering an enemy with a spear seems like a Precision deed. The examples for Precision deed results indicate an extra 1d4 points of damage from a '3' to an extr...

Re: Dwarves in Plate. Impractical?
I think the suggestions and house rulings provided mesh with my thoughts. Dwarfs and plate armor seem like a natural fit. I'm a bit rusty on my Appendix N lore though - I can't recall what the dwarves in LotR wore.

How about "Friends with Benefits"?sheriffharry wrote:What would be nice would be an evocative title that clearly denotes "the" difference between a "Patron" and a "God/Demon".
I don't like the two being somewhat mixed-up in the actual rules... (Bobugbubilz..)

If you look here: http://www.goodman-games.com/MM4.html , the Trolltooth Mountains are just west of Thornswild Wood. Dwarves in Plate. Impractical?
With a Dwarf having a base speed of 20' and plate mail subtracting 10' from that, a resulting movement speed of 10' for an armored dwarf seems more trouble than its worth. Has anyone seen dwarf characters wearing plate armor in any of their sessions?

I just noticed today that the Charm person spell can apply to undead as well. I guess this gives +1 to the Wizard.

1. A gnome class might be interesting, but I'd want the gnome to be not just a "specialist" wizard with some MDoA-like spell power. See, for example, this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnome Maybe have a gnome class much more like a svirfneblin from AD&D? (Except not absurdly powerful...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge! Brainstorm (and class propos
I'm curious why this has to follow in the footsteps of D&D? What DCC represents to me is a step away from the conventions and boundaries set up by D&D. Instead of a Gnome/Illusionist, how about a more traditional Gnome that is non-magical, 15 cm tall, a friend of animals, etc. Instead of Psi...

So is this the brainstorm thread? I'm a bit unclear on that. If so:
Gnome. The 15 cm tall, pointy hat, animal friend version (see Wil Huygen).

I've also assumed that initial rolled luck is the maximum luck attainable (other than receiving an enchantment that increases the maximum).

Re: The Time of the Orcs is Here
I think if I were to take the rage system and make it my own I'd probably keep a few of the benefits of rage and drop the rest. Having 10 benefits seems a bit excessive. I would probably have the Rage Die result = temporary hit points, and maybe keep the speed increase as well.

Re: The Time of the Orcs is Here
Concerning the rage mechanic: It seems that as the Orc levels, the DC for making the fortitude save will increase higher (due to higher Rage Check) than the fortitude bonus the Orc receives, making the Orc fatigue more often when they rage. I wasn't sure whether this was intentional or not. I would ...

Give them a moderate-sized box on their character sheet to write their equipment in and anything they can write in there (that is legible) they can carry.

Re: Encumbrance Houserules Meanderings
I came across this blog post: http://fastermonkeycage.wordpress.com/2012/05/14/trackertokens-3/ While I personally don't care for token tracking in my RPG (seems a little board-game'ish to me), if something like this could get integrated into a character sheet that would be sweet. I imagine somethin...
