Re: Reincarnated Ideas!
Actually, a book that combines Ravenloft and Ravenloft II would be pretty sweet. I agree that WotC would probably not like to see another Ravenloft that would compete with theirs, but it would be a great book!

Ouch. Total brain cramp. The new module is Tomb and not Temple. Fixed my original post, and thanks for the catch.

Savage Kings
I wasn't sure where to put this, but "Judges' Forum" seemed to fit because it relates to a potential campaign setting. Beware of potential spoilers! . . . . . . . . . I ran Tomb of the Savage Kings for Free RPG Day yesterday and the module suggests that it could be tied to DCC66.5 - Doom o...

Re: cast higher level spells
I typically allow my spellcasters to try higher level spells. Looking at the charts we notice that the chance of success goes down as spell level goes up and so the danger level increases. That sometimes makes for more fun.

Re: Campaign thoughts?
As always, GnobeBoy, you are wise. (1) I like the suggestions and I may come up with some sort of wacky "roll a die to see which dice type is used" for the days in between adventures. (2) I'll have to tinker with charts for this. If I recall correctly, there are costs based on the type of ...

Campaign thoughts?
Most of my DCC games to date have been a series of one-shot adventures, much like the old Conan or Fafhrd/Mouser stories were written as one-shots where they could happen pretty much in any order. A bunch of adventures like this with the same characters would represent a "campaign." My wif...

Re: Converting Adventures
I don't have to get into too much detail, but there are a couple guys who have posted some great ideas on conversions to and from DCC. I think the key is that a lot of the material can be used as-is since DCC is based on the 3E SRD, as is C&C and many of the clones. 5E has a lot of the same stuf...

Re: What other Appendix N inspired settings would you like to see?
I'd love to see a DCC treatment of the Steven Brust books. (Taltos, Jehereg, etc.) Very fun and flashy in style, I think it would fit DCC well. (And, yes I know that these books aren't actually "Appendix N" since they were written well after the 1E DMG. I think they fit that sort of style,...

Re: Spellburn Ability Loss
All of the above, just as you stated them. Hit points, attack bonus, everything gets reduced as the stat drops. On some of my homebrew character sheets and GM screens I often put the attribute table there just to remind my players that current bonus is based on current stat. Sometimes it's a bother ...

We need DCC Dragaera
Pretty much what's in the subject line. Dragaera, for those not familiar, is a series of novels by Steven Brust. I'll confess that I've only read around half of the series, and one thing which is a little strange is that odd numbered books are "present day" while even numbered ones are &qu...

Re: Dying Earth D&D
Newcomers are the best, because my old tricks seem new to them. This can make the whole campaign awesome! When I get a newbie I always have a short chat with the veterans to have them give the newbie a chance to experience stuff before they just jump in. I remember one game where one veteran and som...

Re: Dying Earth D&D
Also, though, I'm pretty open with information at my table. Roll in the open, but I'll tell you before you roll what you need to hit a monster, and I'll tell you before I roll what I need for a monster to hit you. If you want to figure out the monster's AC and ATK bonus based on that, go right ahea...

Re: Dying Earth D&D
You could certainly check out the Hyperborea game by North Wind Adventures. They're in the midst of kickstarting their 3rd edition. The rules are essentially 1e AD&D with a heavy does of Vance, Smith, Lovecraft, Howard, etc. There are stats for Oon (Planet of Adventure series) etc. I'm planning...

Re: Who's playing?
I read the original novel (more than one? It was a thick book)... The original novels were slim books from the late-60s/70s -- The Broken Lands, The Black Mountains, Changeling Earth -- later compiled into one book, "Empire of the East". I'm pretty sure that's what I read. The big thick p...

Re: Magician cover of the core rulebook
It appears that this can only be purchased through the KS and only if you have backed at a certain level (rules and adventures, I think) and won't be for sale otherwise. Also of note, there is an Earl Otis module being written that is also a KS-only thing.

Re: Who's playing?
I read the original novel (more than one? It was a thick book) back in the 1980's and remember it fondly. My take at the time was that it felt like a standard fantasy novel, only with an occasional tech thing. Made for a neat combo. I rebought the book recently but haven't gotten around to reading i...

Darn you, Goodman. I already have too many core rulebooks, and then you offer the Magician cover as a kickstart-only thing. Just added that to my pledge, too.

Re: B5 dcc quick start rules?
I tried a crude re-format of the Quick Start PDF you can download through Goodman Games, and when I tried to print to a pamphlet PDF the size exploded on me. Apparently I need to figure out a better way to make PDFs than "Print to PDF" on my computer.

Re: Just started Jack Vance's Dying Earth
Michael Shea's authorized sequel to Eyes of the Overworld is really good as well. Not as incredibly good as Cugel's Saga or Shea's later Nifft the Lean books, but well worth reading. So, Cugel's Saga is a sequel to Eyes of the Overworld , as it starts with Cugel where Eyes left him. Shea's book A Q...

For those of us who haven't been able to sign up for any of the demo sessions, any chance that folks could post the pregens being used? Re: B5 dcc quick start rules?
I think that mutazoid has a great point and I would love to see DCC quick start rules in pamphlet size. Also, without a sample adventure in them. I'd like to have some table copies for newbies to look at during play, and a quick start pamphlet would be more useful than a full rulebook. (Just not the...

Re: Dying Earth D&D
I wrote some "Vancian" spells for OD&D for Footprints #25. Look for the article named Colledician Magic Vol I. I have no idea if they really are as "Vancian" as they should be, except for their basic outlandishness and Vancian naming conventions. Awesome! I downloaded Footpr...
