Re: Updated Thief Class
Bzzzzt. Bzzzt Bzzz..SWAT! I got the impression both from the tone of the rules and the statements Mr G has made here and in person that he really really really wanted folks to try the system out Au natral first time no house rules no tinkering nothin' Which of course makes sense if you have somethin...

Re: DCC Beta Campaign test: Portland, OR
True, but at some point you run up against the law of diminishing returns. This is one of the players 2 surviving Characters... Pat the woodcutter for example: STR 7; AGIL 5; STAM 16; PER 5; INT 5; LUCK 14. Luck applies to find/disable traps... As a DM & a player it is obvious to me that the on...

Re: Updated Thief Class
Thieves should apply their Int bonus to reading scrolls, as other ability modifiers are applied to other skills; I need to actually put that in writing. :) Yaaay! Interesting comments on ability modifiers by alignment. DCC RPG deliberately takes a path of character design that involves less "p...

Re: Class Conversions for DCC
After reading Tortogs recent post (http://www.goodman-games.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=15967&p=47374#p47374) I thought this was a better place to post an idea than take that one off topic. Non humans as classes (yes I know it has its own thread I may cross link hold on!) Seems to me tha...

Re: DCC Beta Campaign test: Portland, OR
A detailed and well thought out write up as ever Tortog! Ok two things stood out to me one trivial the other serious. If I may:- Climbing: uses strength or agility depending on the type of climbing being done: sheer surfaces (STR), natural rock wall or tree (AGIL). A climber without ropes or a climb...

Re: Updated Thief Class
I think I know where Mr G was going with the unopposed skill check business. But I too have misgivings. I can only hope that the case is proved one way or another with further Beta Testing Int as a Scroll cast bonus and stat bonus for skills however? Absolutly!! To think a slow weak thief will be th...

Re: Will we see the next updated draft?
Finally, I'd love to see using a wand be more like reading a scroll. Perhaps it has a spell built into it that can be cast "x" times, but also you still need to make a spell check to do so, like reading a scroll. Perhaps the casting would not be lost on a non-corrupting/non-misfire result...

Re: Updated Cleric Class
Please note that Joseph is of course the final arbitrator. The intention when the Cleric 2.0 was designed is that Spell Burn damage cannot be recovered via the cleric. Spell burn is a sacrifice to a power by the Wizard for a bonus. That power will resist any attempts to 'magically' heal the spell b...

Re: Will we see the next updated draft?
* Finally, I'm playing with the "failure rates." Level 1 spells fail and are lost on a roll of 1-11. Level 2 spells used to fail and be lost on 1-13. I'm playing with level 2 spells suffering only a failure (no spell loss) on 12-13. There is currently a disincentive for wizards to cast hi...

Re: Poisons & Diseases
(Takes off Hat in sympathy) I have nothing against special diseases and poisons when they are adding to the story. Given that the early RPGs that DCC is somewhat modeled on had a poison mechanism where you made one saving throw (with modifier for poison's strength) and a failure was death, well, I t...

Just had a read through. in a word Wow! Great stuff!! My only "wait what!" moment is on the handle poison entry. So your implying NOBODY but a thief can handle poison or that if they do they run the risk of poisoning themselves at a much higher rate then the thief? I used to handle hazardo...

So be sure to thank the Apache foundation, not Sun. Regardless, I also use Open Office at home. And it opens any stray MS documents I receive just fine. I stand corrected sir! Sorry for the mis info I have been using open office for so long now I hardly look at the splash screens/follow the news. I...

Re: Old School versus 4E
+d14 Agree here. If you want to make up your own cards thats great. But thats it let the decision to do that be an individuals. My over all impression of DCC is that it encourages a GM to make his her own campaign again with its own house rules. Less official rules make us DM's THINK of what makes O...

Re: Precision Gem d30s?
Sadly, your link is broken, so I couldn't see your Koplow gem d30. I haven't encountered any gem d30s yet, so any links that way would be appreciated. I'd prefer if there were precision gem d30s, of course, especially on a dice with so many sides, but ultimately I might have to bite the bullet. Dam...

Re: Class Conversions for DCC
I had a player ask to play a Ranger. Basically what I told her is that she would be playing a fighter, but when "Ranger situations" came up I'd give her a bonus on die rolls. We kept the bonus vague, depending upon the situation. She had played an C&C Ranger before and asked about a f...

I kinda like the original idea, but i don't think dcc is the right place for it. These disciplines look way too "3rd edition-ey" for my taste Thanks for the feed back. You may be right, but so far its been a pretty well received house rule here. *Shrug* Hopefully we'll get some official d...

As Promised here are the Lawful Aligned DIsciplines I have come up with. My "vision" is that the Lawful Mystic is more the Psion type with activational abilities that they use to creat spell like effects to aid their quests and so forth. Lawful Aligned Disciplines Discern Ki Type Daily Use...

Re: Class Conversions for DCC
Hit dice are strange. Just use a straight up d8 or d10. There's no reason why this class should be AWESOME at first level in terms of survivability and then just MEH at 5th level and up. I don't want to encourage you :) but I think this kind of thing is needed for the long term viability of DCCRPG ...

Class Conversions for DCC
OK so I am getting bugged by players (including the wife) for DCC versions of the following. Ranger (2 votes the rest one time each) Monk Bard and Paladin Well I see no harm in trying a DCC stylisation of these favorites (to some anyhow) of AD&D but thought I'd start a thread to see if any other...
