Re: DCC Tournament 2009

The tournament was fun this year, and all my tables did very well. However it is my understanding that there were a large number of teams that did super good. I say this because none of the teams I ran in round one or two advanced (and I think they all played fantastic), and they all seemed to have...

Re: DCC Tournament 2009

The Blood Kings washed out in the first round. I feel for ya. Speaking from experience, it's always rough when you wash out of the event that you've been looking forward to all year. The telescope room ate up most of our time, but we were winning the fight when the time ran out. 2 spectral warriors...

Re: DCC Tournament 2009

We had a quiet DM and a really loud room, a table change and then another (non DCC) GM scream at us for being in her spot (GenCon moved our table and failed to update her to her liking.) So it's a little irritating that we made several tactical mistakes because we couldn't hear each other. But othe...

Re: Year Six Tournament: Scroll of Ruin

gausse, Sorry...I couldn't come through for you. I would put a post on Enworld as well (there should be a section on the forums, under the general section, that is set up specifically for GenCon scheduling). Post there and mention that you already have the ticket (so it will be a free ride). Barring...

Re: Year Six Tournament: Scroll of Ruin

I'll tell you what...let me ask around. I know a few good players (several of which we pull for tournaments periodically)...let me see if any of them are going to GenCon this year, and would like to play the DCC. No promises though...

Re: Year Six Tournament: Scroll of Ruin

I don't believe they'll let you double up (I could be wrong though...I'll let Jengenritz answer that). Going with 4 would be a disadvantage, since you'll have less firepower...although teams have done it. One team slugged their way through the finals with only 3 players. Actually, I'd take one less ...

Re: Game Room!

You seen the pictures of my new game table? We're speaking the same language. Ha. No....but I have seen photos of the "Ultimate Gaming Table" and the "Sultan" (I saw the Sultan at the last GenCon), and have culled ideas from both of those. Ultimately, I just grabbed ideas that I...

Re: Game Room!

I have my own plans for a game room - A built-in book case with cabinet doors and deep shelves (for all of those awkward-fitting board games), a custom gaming table (with pull our drawers for each person and small personal book shelves), and some form of projector (back projecting from below) or mon...

Game Room!

A friend of mine (he was in our gaming group for years before he moved out to the west coast) sent me a link to this. It's a game room that someone built. It's not quite to my tastes, but the guy did a fantastic job. I just had to pass this on:

Re: GenCon 2009

We even got Clan Yeoman to playtest for us (sadly, they won't be able to compete this year), so you can expect extra helpings of bloodshed and deviousness! For this first time in 5 years, I can finally join in on the pre-tournament maniacal laughter. So, without further ado... Mwaahaaaaaahhhaaaaahh...

Re: GenCon 2009

So, having no experience w/ GenCon previously... what exactly is involved w/ the Goodman Games portion of the GenCon? I see you mentioning teams. Is it a gladiator type of event? Just curious mainly. I live in Portland and I'm not entirely certain I'll be going to this, but ya' never know, so I tho...

Re: GenCon 2009

My guess is that they'll be running the tournament that they've already written (and had intended to run). That tournament - Test of the Gods - will see print in a slightly-different form. The print copy of Warbringer's Son (when it comes out) contains some behind-the-scenes info on why the tournam...

Re: Level Up

N'Haaz-aua,

You have me thinking now...

What if, on special magic items, we could have a skill challenge required to identify it properly? Whatcha think?

Re: Level Up

Rituals - adding Identify back into the mix No offense, but...really? You realize that the characters just auto-ID magic items by "spending time in the item's awesome pwn-ness," correct? Simply by the process of handling the item, the character can figure out it's properties. I'm genuinel...

Re: Level Up

I think I will be implementing a combination of the two: You can learn about an items primary power by studying it, but some items do not show as magical, some have secondary powers that only are revealed through ritual or use, and some have masked powers that can only be revealed by a ritual. That...

Re: Level Up

These are awesome ideas. I think you should email Aeryn and write him an article. :) Ha. :) Well...we are committing some house rules to paper this week...so I suppose that I could send some along for Aeryn to peruse. I'll leave the creature rituals to N'Haaz-aua, since it was his suggestion (we ha...

Re: Level Up

Could I put in a request for Level Up? I'd like to see a regular column on House Rules. We've been putting together a list for our own group, but I'd love to see some additional content that I could incorporate. To give you an idea, these are items on our list (we're still fleshing it out): Skills -...
