So is anyone sure exactly WHY the modules list Hp values other than the average of the HD?
Are these values the intended balance (such as it is) of the adventure?

Detemining creature Hp
i noticed that the core book only lists HD for monsters, whereas the modules list HD and Hp separately, and the Hp listed is NOT always the average that the HD would indicate. Ao I am really curious to know how other Judges determine Hp for monsters. Do you roll it? Do you use the average? Some othe...

How often can a cleric retry lay of hands?
Any time you are outside of combat, why not require versions of lay on hands that take longer - as opposed to repeatedly rolling? So if the initial 'normal' lay on hands does not work - don't allow a normal re-do. Require a ritual that takes a full game turn (10 minutes game time - roll for wanderin...

Re: Stamina loss and hit points
It's funny - recalculating HP when characters lose stamina never even occurred to me. My understanding was that the point of stamina that drops off every time you are downed would simply catch up to you eventually via worse future hp rolls, and a destroyed fortitude roll. And it is probably secondar...

Re: Dragon Hit Points
Yeah I read it as:
HD = number of hit dice to roll
HP per HD = additional HP per hit die
EDIT:
So in your example -
6 HD
1 HP per HD
Means you roll 6d12+6 for the dragon's HP.

Re: Four fixes for DCC
Create an anti-mage that can lock down wizards abilities. Remember enemies don't have to follow the same rules as characters. As soon as he sets off colour spray - BOOM - counterspell with something that makes him lose the spell for the day (ALL his spells at the top end of effect), cutting him off ...

Re: Need a Chaotic (but good) patron/god/faction
Thanks for the tip on Angels, Daemons and Beings Between.
It is $6 right now on drivethru rpg. I just couldn't go past that for 12 patrons.
I'm certain I will be able to adjust one of those to what I am after

Need a Chaotic (but good) patron/god/faction
Like the title says - I want to blur the lines.
I need a chaotic patron who will be the deity for a fairly widespread faction of do-gooders.
Before I re-invent the wheel, anyone have one already??
If not I will have to make one up - and based on what I have read here, the task will thin my hair.

Re: Some thoughts on Funnel Runs
Seeing as characters can consiously choose to change alignment anyway - especially at level 0 where you have little investment by way of patrons etc. - why not just roll a d3 at character generation? 1 = lawful 2 = nuetral 3 = chaotic That way everyone wins. Players can have their character change a...

Re: tower out of time
So.... I cannot seem to find anywhere that I can run a road crew game in Australia. Game stores don't stock it, and conventions over the period don't have RPG's as part of the event. This makes me a sad panda. If any road crew GM's are prepared to sell me one of the hard copies available to them I w...

Re: Limited edition/availabilty
The point that goodman games gains nothing from collectibility is a good one, and this is especially true where the item in question costs $9.99 in print. My understanding is that the limited availability is a reward for individuals who are taking time out of their busy lives to run public games - ...

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea Finale
I would think the more important thing is to make sure the players know what the flavour of the game is up front. If they go in knowing that encounters are not 'balanced' to be taken on head on, and that cunning will be necessary to their survival - they will do a lot better, and have a lot more fun...

Low luck characters
I am interested to know how other judges handle characters with low luck. The best example is a halfling or thief who has burnt their luck down considerably (knowing it will regenerate), but it also applies to PC's who have gradually burnt it down over time - to a negative modifier (or they might ha...

Re: Anyone interested in running a play-by-post 0-level funn
I am running a funnel at the moment, with one player physically at my table and another remotely via google hangouts. This game went ahead as planned, ending up with 2 players (I had a third lined up but they flaked).
They ran four 0 levels each through a scaled down version of Portal Under the Stars.
Fun was had by all

Out of curiousity I had a look around for the PDF. Can't find it! The facebook page link is dead (as per the statement saying the link would be good until 'x' date - the promise was kept). It doesn't come up in search on drivethrurpg either. Seems now the only way is to get a copy of the PDF from so...

Re: Doom of the Savage Kings for sale...asking price?
Personally I just like owning the hard copy - it completes the collection
It's only 16 pages though, so if all you wanted to do was be able to run the adventure, it would be very easy to deal with as a pdf or just print it off.
