Re: When will the dice sets be available?
Yeah, seems that is true about the d5. I got my set yesterday and was rolling it to see. As long as its a good tossed roll up in the air and not just rolled off the palm, it more often than not landed on the side than on its big flat face side with the 1 an 5. It is kind of crazy that it dose that a...

Non-combat encounter?
In DnD basic there were guidlines for tracking how long it takes players to explore. Basicially, you would ask each player to describe what they are doing, one person might map the room, another might search for secret doors, and another might just stand guard at a door listining for approchinc mons...

Re: When will the dice sets be available?
Um, is it just me or do alot of those dice look like they would be really easy to roll in a baised way. The d7 for example has a side with the 7 on it that is much larger surface area than the other faces of the die, so it seems like it is not going to be very good and generating random numbers. It ...

Re: Why I love the DCC RPG
Castle white rock is one of the best mega dungeon moduals I have seen. Want to hear someting crazy though? when I tried to buy it from barnes and nobel they rang it up as 9.99 instead of 99.99. When I told the chasier lady that that was the wrong price she snaped rudley at me that it was the right p...

Re: what game is most like the DCC RPG?
I would say so far that the most similar game is DnD Basic, because elves, halflings, and dwarves are their own class, and sounds like they follow how those classes were intended to work (that is, in both, the elf is a fighter/mage, the dwarf is basically a fighters, etc) If one has to draw a direc...

Re: About Monsters/NPCs...
well, flipping though my old DnD basic rules encyclopedia made me wonder why monster manuals were every needed? The book seems to have rules for everything imagenible in the game, yet it also fit in a comprehinsive monster manual covering tons of monsters, both standard (goblins, dragons, etc) and e...

Re: Zero-level Character Concepts
One big thing to keep in mind is that each 0th level character gets a random profession and a random piece of equipment, and I think that this tends to define them a lot more than a term like "coward"; at least it does at the onset since you don't know which characters will survive or how...

Re: Adventure! What kind will you run for DCC?
This is an easy one for me, I will be converting one of my favroite moduals from DnD basic, escap from Zanzer's Dungeon! I have converted this adventure to 3.x, dnd 4th ed, 4th ed hackmaster, and hackmaster basic, so my players know it is a tradition for me to ring in a new game system with this adv...

Re: [Design Question] DCC RPG and 10 Levels
I want to be able to go from farm boy to demi god in the rules. I'm not sure that this really fits Joseph's "mission statement" for the game, unless I'm misunderstanding your use of demigod. Is Conan a demigod? Elric? Those are the kinds of characters that the DCC RPG will probably "...

Wow, alot of stuff going around on this thread. I just a few things for whatever its worth I want to be able to go from farm boy to demi god in the rules. Yes, it might take 4 years of playing to do so, but I have had campaings last that long and they were a blast. And even if you don't start at lev...

Re: Just houserule it
How about making disarm/sunder actions be avalible to fighters that succed on a DoMA? That sounds like a real simple way to introduce those rules into the game (and any one that is not a fighter just dosn't have the training to disarm or sunder). You can also chang disarm to droped wepaon and sunder...

Re: Warriors and MDoA's
Also, if the MDoA reqires a succesful hit in addition to rolling 3+, than even a 75 percent chanch at level 6 will still fail to activate about half the time. If you used precentile dice for both rolls, its like you have to roll 50 percent or less (on average for a fighter, im assuming), and than yo...

Re: Levelling from 0 to 1
People, I'm asking this question conceptually. I don't give a damn what the beta copy of the rules does or does not say about knights. I am examining the implications of such a short trip from 0-level to 1st level and what does it mean to BE 1st level. GRRM's Song of Fire and Ice: Sir Loras of the ...

Also, im pretty sure that a squaire "trained" for years because an adult is not about to give a 10 or 12 year old boy a sword and armor and expect him to stand up against 17-20+ adults and survive. They were not allowed to truly be in a fighting situation untill they matured and actually w...

Re: Resurrection ?
I would vote to include a resurection spell/ritual. They really did not come up often in any games I ever played that had it as an option unsless we were pretty high level. Even than, it was rare as we would usually have to seek out some one that could cast it and/or and a 10,000 gp daimond. It soun...

Re: Any Prerequisites?
From a DM perspective power gaming was never a problem in and of itself, Well, I disagree. I think power gaming is, in itself, a problem. Not "players using smart tactics and clever stratagems" to out think their foes, or using common gear and items in inventive ways power gaming. But, bu...

Re: Aereth reboot for DCC RPG?
I don't know, I am kind of leaning towards the development of a new campagin setting customed tailored to the new game. But either way, I would like it they continue to have an interactive map with the locations of all the moduals. That is really cool I think.

More awesome art, cannot wait to get my hands on this. Any chance for priority for non RPG Day BETA prints to go to pre-orderers? Re: Levelling from 0 to 1
And I agree that mixed-level parties don't tend to work well. However, it's possible that it would work in DCC since a level-0 character is technically only 100 XP behind a level-1 character. What? 100? didn't know that. That's terrible. I hate the idea even more. It only takes 100 XP to jump for b...

If some players have to re-roll a character funnel and start over at level-0 they don't get those advantages, so the system is already designed to deal with that issue. (Unless you are suggesting that even players whose level-0 characters all died should also get to start at 1st level....) It's fai...

From a DM perspective power gaming was never a problem in and of itself, as I could always find ways to ratchet up the challaneges. What I didn't like was when one player would create a very powerful character that outsines other characters. That would make it tricky for me to creat well balanced en...
