The Adventure Plunge!

So I am creating a link to my different adventures for my home group. Kinda a Adventure Path kinda thing. After talking about it with my players we decided Adventure Path wasn't the right world. Adventure Path sounds nice and peaceful, like a walk through the woods where you stop and look at the wate...

Re: Expanded Occupations and Ability-Based Tables

I dislike this idea because it min/max's.

My plummer is a very hot woman. Her highest stat has to be personality

My Doctor is so buff he looks like a action movie star and my mailman is a walking encyclopedia.

I like the idea that people don't necessarily do what they are best suited to do.

Re: Grifting - request for comments

I guess my dislike of such rules stems from the cascade of skills and play it brings to the table as well. If you can roll to lie then rolling to detect lie is right around the corner. If you can roll to detect lie then rolling for motivation is near and then shouldn't my personality and alignment c...

Re: Thieves'/Halflings Luck and (again!) Mighty Deeds of Arm

I waited till my neighbor got home to ask him his take on Realism because he is a actual halfling and I figured he would know. However before I could get a chance to ask him he tried to cast a spell and really messed it up and basically exploded. Also now I have the head of a Goat. I feel so BA-AA-AA...

Punjar is the $%^%^!

I put it up against Lankhmar!

Great City just needs someone to write some kick arse swords and sorcery books based in it(looks sideways at Goodman games).

Re: Thieves'/Halflings Luck and (again!) Mighty Deeds of Arm

(Also, I think it deserves a little discussion that the 3-18 bell curve scale for stats differs between races, for example an 18 str halfling is not as absolutely strong as, say, a 15 strength dwarf, or a 14 strength human. Although he still gets the same bonuses, I guess in homage to Bruce Lee.) C...

Re: City of Thieves ideas and suggestions

If I remember right Punjar was all fluff and little if any rules. So in other words it would be fine to convert for a VERY seedy dirty underhanded type city.

In fact thank you for the idea!

Re: Pitching DCC to potential players.

Are you guys tired of DM's and the games you play holding your hand and leading you to the generic cookie jar because they think you can only stand up if they prop you up? Tired of being thought of as stupid and weak? Ready to actually do something with your characters and game that you earn instead...

Re: Two questions regarding deeds of arms

I no longer have issues with MD. The issue was always more about the idea of overpowered than issues in game. I finally came to the conclusion that NONE of the class's are balanced and that every single class is overpowered. I guess it works out because the game play has shown that the game as a who...

Re: Anybody daring to swear he doesn't roll concealed? ;)

Rolling out front and in view isn't hard or even that big a deal. You are not crafting a story(even if you end up with some good ones) but instead playing a game.Don't get caught up in the story telling aspect of the game. It's still just a game. If the dice roll this way then great! If they roll th...

I leave it up to the player or in the case of a player who can't deal with more than one PC,let them choose between them and the rest stand in waiting till needed.

Re: Mighty Deeds and non-Warriors

Way back in the early days of RPGs, another name for Warrior was "Hero". I think this is a clue as to the kind of person Warriors are, and leads to the reasons why I'm of the opinion that Deeds being for Warriors only should be an ironclad rule. Heroism is a sucker's game. Wizards are too smart to ...

Seems to me in a Norse type setting they are perfect......as The Holy Halfling Empire at the center of the world conquering the known world with military discipline and advanced tactics.

You can pack a load of those little buggers behind a shield wall!

Seems cool but I like the really random official way better. In my fantasy world most people are born into a trade regardless of natural skill. Re: Atributes for non-human races (?)

If you give a penalty and a bonus be prepared for what you start. Halflings get a -1 to str and a +1 to agil be prepared for 19 Agil. Halflings in all those games were almost defaulted to Thieves, something they are NOT in DCC. Halflings in all those games were chosen races not random race/occupation...

Re: The Kickstarter madness has me thinking about dice

I love DCC but I think its a shame that they made the strange dice so needed and at the same time failed to provide them. This is the largest detractor of the game. Sure those interested enough can find work around methods but its a uphill battle to convince others who do not love the game yet to pl...

Re: Atributes for non-human races (?)

On the other hand. If you want to set limits and bonus/penalties for Deni-humans for your home games go right ahead. Use the D&D ones, make up your own or whatever ya want. I myself hate the every round is a trick shot version of Mighty Deeds so set limits on it for my home game. This entire game is ...
