Re: DCC RPG DunDraCon Play Tests, 2010 & 2011

Haha sounds like crazy fun... methinks DM's Rule Zero in DCC RPG should be joined with a new Player's Rule Zero "Don't get too attached to your PC!"

Re: Warrior mechanics

^Haha true, it was said as a positive BTW. I like it when heroes can do heroic things.

Yes and Yes, but more flexible/OS.

Whoa Great system, stunts would be quite common if you survived to higher levels!

Re: Elric's plate armor and Gandalf's sword

Thanks and it sounds the right balance to me. But what do I know, never seen the game. Maybe if I did have a little BETA copy... hint hint :D

Re: Experience

I like the idea of spending gold to get XP, and by that I mean spending it on ale and ladies of negotiable virtue, not armour! It makes no sense in the real world but I just like the idea.

Re: Experience

Fantasy Craft has the best down time system that I have ever seen. You have a Prudence score which wittles away your cash between adventures, you get recovery from stress etc by debauchery and wine. It is very crunchy but once you get into it the FC rules are an awesome toolset (which does low fanta...

Re: So, what about combat?

My guess would be no, just for space. Because then Magic Users would have to have one for each type of spell damage. Also if the crits are worded right, they can be easily narrated to fit the weapon/spell that does the damage. The mechanical effects stay the same... e.g. description = head destroyed...

Re: The DCC RPG and Spellslinging

Oh yeah I get you, your basic premise is great, and I hope the way DCC is going. But I don't want to see CLW 'cos that is DnD (with all the attendant 15min adventruing day type stuff) but not Appendix N. As I said on the healing thread, I would like to see recovery of 'HP' easily but healing of actu...

Re: Healing and clerics

Clerics are only healbots if you play them that way. My clerics in 1e always carried a couple healing spells to save a pc or two and the rest were combat or utility spells. The next day, I might get a ton of healing spells to help the party recover if needed, but in general, healing spells were cas...

Re: The DCC RPG and Spellslinging

That is pretty cool, although I would tweak a lot of things (like summoning a god should require a hell of a lot more sacrifices and ritual participants) but the idea is sure sound. I do not like this part though "Cleric is going to choose Cure Light Wounds" @Geordie, yeah in that way 4E got ...

Re: Beyond Appendix N

I wish I could remember where I saw it but I went to a webpage showing how comic classic images where some of the art, but maybe more the artist than the designers... and maybe not ODnD rather ADnD.

Re: The DCC RPG and Spellslinging

I think causing problems for everyone I talked to or looked at would be going to far. Wizards and anyone who looked like a wizard would be burned at the stake. With no questions asked just in case talking might trigger some bad effect. unless wizard also are the only source of magic (healing too), ...

Re: Handling skill check

Nice words Smathis, massive number inflation can be a curse. It got annoying in 4E everything scaling like Oblivion... you never got better at actually succeeding! So far Dragon Age (current game)seems to avoid that, inflation is slow but still meanimgful, hopefilly DCC will be the same
