A question on the character sheets . . .

Picked up my copy of Etherscope recently (real hard to find round here) and tried creating a character to get a feel for how the system works. While I managed to struggle through most of it, I did have one problem: The character sheets distributed both with the book and online seem to have a typo. W...

Okay, add Etherscope. Now begins the search all over again to find anyone willing to actually play in the setting.

Well, that campaign's bust, so I'm again writing stuff I doubt anyone will ever read . . . Darnit, I can't keep a DragonMech campaign going for more than a month without something going horribly wrong. And, to throw in an actual question, how does this whole "more crew needed" thing apply ...

Some Music for your Gear Forest Adventures

I recently found an artist who creates music with a definite mechanical feel. Decided I'd post about it, in case anyone would be interested. The name is Vernian Process, and you can find the main website at http://www.gothpunk.com/formaldihyde/vernianprocess.html I especially recommend the Rust seri...

Actually, knowing the thoughts and logic behind the classes is very helpful. I can see why you made the Steel-Bound Soul the way you did, and that plus the comparison between the two similarly-leveled characters finally got the idea I'd been missing into my head. I think you and I will just have to ...

All right, that all makes sense. Main thing we were trying to figure out was if an assimilated, being that a mech is essentially their body, could simply operate it by themselves. My example for this information was the Victor, from Second Age. I looked at it again just now, and it said "attend...

Steamborg thoughts

You're right about the lose self prerequisite. Should've looked that up. The main problem I see with going seven levels in Steel-Bound Soul and then multiclassing away is that it makes the original steamborg class seem less like a real, potential class, and more like "Steel-Bound Soul, but wors...

Couple of house rules from my campaign: Anyone with more than one artificial part automatically gains the lose self class ability. This was pointed out to me after someone showed me their coglayer/steamborg/steel-bound soul character concept that made a steamborg without the lose self ability, and t...

So, I have a couple of questions yet again . . . 1. So, I know that mech jockeys can use the Mechidextrous feat to essentially "replace" one of their gunners on the crew requirement, but how are assimilated treated for the purposes of crew requirement? One of my PCs wants to go into assimi...

So, assuming I'm a first-level coglayer, so I have a total of 7 steam powers (gearhead, 3+2). And I build an automaton out of two clockwork puppets. So I've got something about the size of a cat (Tiny, since clockwork puppets I assume still follow weapon sizes), but it just sits there. So I add an a...

It says under the Grease Prophet entry in Steam Warriors that "All grease prophets lose the ability to cast some, if not all, divine spells." How does this apply to magic items that can cast spells like that? For example, a 5th level druid/1st level coglayer/1st level grease prophet has a ...

Yep. Steamboy's good. Though I highly recommend never to watch it with a practical mechanical engineer. "But it doesn't work that way!" is the operative phrase. Still, it has plenty of good ideas, and a steamborg too. There are also a few good dramatic moments that lend themselves to a sui...

*blink, blink* *burst out laughing* That's great! Mind if I use that in my campaign?

Also, I'm assuming that the 99 lead to a Main Boiler Explosion? That must've mighily impressed the Irontooth Clansmen!

On the Cogworm of the Great Walkers prestige class in the Steam Warriors book, it says that "a cogworm gear behaves as though it has two boilers integrated into it at no additional cost in weight or parts." (pg. 23, Cogworm Gear Steam Power, end of 2nd paragraph) However, under the Alterat...

Okay, so now that we've got the Mech Manual, Second Age of Walkers, and Steam Warriors, (and Rumors & Lies, too) are there any more books coming out?

I saw a book called "The Lost City" at Amazon, as well as "Monstrous Mechs." Any more in pipeline?

Okay, I feel like an idiot for asking, but . . . How does one create a new type of mech armor? The ashigaru, dire armor, et cetera, are all listed as having stats, but I haven't found anything to explain how to create a new type of mech armor. Can someone fill me in on how the creation process diffe...

Well, here's an easy one:

Lightning Walker: This rodwalker variant is built for (relatively) close-range combat. Usually the gunner can apply Enlarge Spell to wands, giving the mech some additional range. An 8th level wand of lightning bolt can give a lot of damage very quickly.

Okay, that seems good. How would the miss chances be affected by, say, having brilliant energy grenades or explosive shells? I'm just thinking of how I can add to my already-formidable mech-killing skills. Hey, I could even add merciful and keep everyone alive while I attack! And I think warforged a...

Okay, here's another question for you: how would directed attacks against the crew work with a mech-sized brilliant energy weapon? If I was a harrier steamjock, I'd get a custom mech fitted with a brilliant energy sword. I mean, no damage to inanimate objects, but swinging it at the cockpit might re...

Thanks, I would like to play! And yes, yes it does. Because, truly, there is no such thing as too much DragonMech material, as long as it will be used sometime, eventually.
