Re: Mind training: a glowing frog conversion.

Interesting creature. I would go with this: Glowing Frog TY: Level 1 (average die-rank: D6) TR: none Arcana: D8 > D8 (Invisibility); D6 (Hypnotic Colors); D6 (Glow) EA: None HP: 20 RS: 20 BP: D2 (swim, D4) Notes: This tiny fey creature can become invisible. It can attack with a glowing ray for D6 Ha...

Re: Seventh session experience....

Yep! Summoned creatures bypass RS. ;-) Is there a page number for this? Thanks. No, because I took it as a given based on precedent (admittedly, I assumed it). Now that you mention it, I'll make it official and add it to the revision. Summoned creatures do not affect Resilience with regular physica...

Re: Converting creatures

One more: Gelatinous Cube TY: Level 4 (average die-rank: D8) TR: Melee: Slam -- 1D4 + 4 (acid damage) Arcana: D12 + D8 (Paralyze) EA: None HP: 40 RS: 20 BP: D3 Notes: Gelatinous cubes secrete acid that dissolves organic material, but does not affect metal or stone. Any creature that is struck by a g...

Re: Converting creatures

More conversions. Note: For these creatures, I didn't really use the ERP rules to build them. I just kind of converted them from thier C&C counterparts. I noted the "average" die-rank to each one, based on its level. For the undead creatures, I wanted them to be kind of scary, so I add...

Why is this? Do summoned creatures bypass Resilience? (I must admit that I haven't read the summoning section--I don't generally have many summoner-types in my games).

Re: Seventh session experience....

Questions arose around the spell Conjure Swarm. Here is the text: "This spell conjures a hoard of large stinging insects. Each insect has Potential-Harm of 1, with no more than a single hit point each, and zero resilience. The creatures’ initiative rank is as one group, equal to the caster’s S...

Re: Terror spell

The Terror spell lists "Augment" as its Effect and "Intimidation" as its Aspect. What is Intimidation? How does this spell work? It enhances Coercion, and any use of Coercion where the character is specialized in intimidation specifically. So it summons the likeness of a "b...

Re: Permanent spell effects?

The simple double cost solution seems a little to easy actually, which could cause for more instant kills. You know...Throw magic bolts at d12>d8>d6 until they penetrate the victims resilience and then hit them with a d4>d4>d4 flesh to stone that costs the PC (or NPC) from 6 to 24 SP and stops the ...

Re: Permanent spell effects?

Any thoughts on my feedback? A question and a comment: Question: Are these "rituals" (that take days) or spells (that are immediate)? Comment: I have read through this twice, and am still confused (although the 2nd time did help). It seems overly complicated, and it goes against the grain...

Re: Permanent spell effects?

Most spell effects made permanent should remain in the realm of ritual. Most rituals last as long as the casting time (1 round casting time equals one round duration). With permanent effects, that's not going to work. Like ... flesh to stone ... would be a ritual the equivalent of 'incapacitation&q...

Thanks much, that neatly takes care of questions 3 and 4. :) By the way, you mentioned the formula for calculating Resilience has been changed but I don't see that in the FAQ...is there some other place for errata I haven't found yet? Well, Dan has the final word on this, but several people have ex...

Permanent spell effects?

I don't really see a mechanism in ERP to create permanent spell effects. The Transmute effect doesn't specifically address the duration, and most of the listed spells seem to be dependent on Maintenance (possible exception: Warp Wood). There are lots of classic spells in D&D that produce permane...

But this conversion uses the book value HP of the creatures, which do not get modified by size or nature. So the RS needs to be higher.

I'm still combing the rules to make sure I'm getting everything and so far, it's not as rough as some made it sound. Yea, it is fine once you get used to the odd placement of some sections. The editing and layout are confusing in places. But the game is a lot of fun--definitely worth the time to le...

I'm very curious to know how it stacks up with the CS system... I was working up the numbers for this battle and I see that the Goblin that was on the wiki site is listed as a CS 7 when by the book it should be a 10 (1d6 melee + 1d4 ranged =CS 10). With this in mind the battle listed above was 114 ...
