??? No, we were not, just going by the sum of Arcanum as listed on p.37. Hadn't heard of doubling SP--that definitely would have helped!dancross wrote:Are you doubling SP (arcanum tree x2)? They should.

Re: "Saving throw" based creatures
This looks good. You said using saves worked "pretty well" in your last session. Could you be more specific? What were the comments from your players? Played one more session with the save mechanic. I thought it went well. The players thought that they ran out of SP too soon (because they...

Re: Fourteenth session experience....
Two questions arose: 1. The spell Purify Water (p.79)- The magic of Eldritch is either maintainable or instantaneous. Transmute is maintainable only. In this case, you use the spell on bad water to make drinking water. But since it is only maintainable…. See were this is leading…. I remember this b...

Also, characters start at 30 CPs, then get level +2 every level. What am I missing with your max CP list? Um... I'm not sure. I thought I got it from a table that you posted, but now I can't remember... I'll do some checking. Now I remember. The column is not max CP, but total number of die rank in...

Under what circumstances would an arcanist NOT want to bypass the Resilience of thier target?

Re: Some musings on Resilience
I think that I'm going to increase Toughness along with this, as this system will probably result in more damage. I was thinking of:
Toughness = Endurance + Resistance + Reflexes + Willpower

Re: Some musings on Resilience
But note that is this age and time you make rolls against passive defense and feel happy about it. D&D4 fans think that this and other roll-cutting rules is great mechanic (hey, Eldritch has it in ADP form %) So, opposed rolls for a magic attack (plus, possibly, a difficulty roll) seems like to...

Re: Some musings on Resilience
The spells will need to be updated. I'll try it out in my games and see how it goes. It should be emphasized that the GM and player can decide which ability is best, depending on the circumstance. I wouldn't want to "over codify" in this. You wouldn't necessarily need to change any of the...

Some musings on Resilience
Some musings on Resilience I have been thinking about the game mechanic of Resilience lately. First let me say that I really like ERP. It has some great ideas, and some great strengths. For me the ADPs and the magic system are great. But after playing ERP for 12 sessions now (not a huge amount of ex...

Re: Concept guidelines
How about having a set of "physical" Abilities (Agility, Endurance, Reflexes, and Willpower) that are set at character creation? You put CPs into them when you create the character, and they are then fixed (no more CPs can be added). Except maybe at certain levels, when one Ability could b...

Re: Identify
The first thing I'd consider is - are your players interested in using this item as soon as possible (so identifying it is only a bother) or are they interested in story/setting details about identifying? And next thing, is it a special magic item or some regular "feather fall pendant"? D...

OK, so the PCs have found some permanent magic items. They have Detected Magic on them, so they know that they are magical. But how can they determine the nature of the items? There is a powerful wizard in the town, so they are going to see him, but how does he do it? (in game terms) Any ideas for a...

Re: How do you like the traps!?
It's good. I like the "Danger Zones" idea. Although I probably won't use the "Vigilant" one. It's close enough to the "Wary" one, and the math is too hard (using 5%). Keeping track of minutes is hard enough!

I wonder... If the wiki was still up, would I be able to post this converted creature there? The original statistics is open content under OGL, but still copyrighted by Atlas Games. The idea is not completely original, I've seen glowing frogs before, and most likely it hails from african folklore. ...

Re: Mind training: a glowing frog conversion.
I just realized something... Writing the "manifestation" and the "aspect" when creating spells annoys the f&^% out of me. I don't think I'll do it anymore, because those things are better described in the spell's notes, allowing for greater description and variance in ...

Re: Mind training: a glowing frog conversion.
I thought of making Scrutiny checks against the invisible creature's _Stealth ability_, just with additional penalty applied to Scrutiny. You still have to move quietly to stay undetected, so it's a Stealth check. Invisibility won't help that much if you're clumsy and drop furniture %) Makes sense ...

Re: A Few More Questions
Our next game is Wednesday and I've come up with a couple more questions I'd like to have answered before we get started (especially as this session will include our first caster): 1- Where are the ranges for ranged weapons? If they were left out, have they been put in an errata? Check out this thr...
