Re: Any reporting from GenCon?

Hey - I'm in this picture. The game was a blast - I enjoyed meeting everyone and playing the role of the Plague Farmer Gang! :) PLAGUE FARMERS 4EVAH! We didn't come up with a gang sign. We should have come up with a gang sign. Plague Farmers rule! I had such a great time at that game. How often do ...

Genghis Con XXXIV Sunday Morning DCC

So, it was another first for me. Not only did I die as usual in one of Harley Stroh's games, my PC died twice . I was playing a Demonologist (Chaotic) who had heard of a secret ritual of great power. I teamed up with a Cleric (Lawful) to find the place where the ritual was taking place. The Cleric w...

2nd Printing PDF download problem

I received an email tonight stating that the DCCRPG PDF has been updated on RPGNow.com. I just finished downloading it only to find out that it is 100 pages long. Something tells me that it wasn't actually supposed to be a truncated version of the rulebook. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks.

Re: Homemade Slipcase

The slipcase is very cool! While we are on the subject, here is a quick update on upcoming covers. The "basic" 2nd printing will have the existing "blue" cover. There will also be two alternate covers. Doug had some ideas for a very cool painted cover, which will be the first al...

Wow! $1550 away from the Final Goal with 5 days, 8 hours left.

It is going to be close, but I think we can do it. :-)

Ran DCC #67 Last Night

I ran 4 new players through "Sailors on the Starless Sea" last night (6/22/2012). I had a great time and so did the players. There was much death and carnage. I killed 8 our of 16 characters. I ran through character creation at the table before starting. The players didn't really like the ...

Re: Old School Character & Monster Tokens

I think it's a cool idea, but am curious as to how many people would actually buy and use them. Count me out. I play Pathfinder quite a bit and one of the things that I find really refreshing is that DCC RPG doesn't use minis and battlemats. I get tired of carting all of that around for my Pathfind...

Re: Resources, modules & books for use with DCC?

Take a look at some of the DCC modules which were released for 3.x (#0 through #52). Some of them (or at least the interesting monsters in them) should be quite usable with DCC RPG. I have also heard good things about Barrowmaze (http://www.rpgnow.com/product/98978/Barrowmaze). There was a discussio...

Re: DCC and AD&D

I just have grown to dislike the balancing act that GMing 3.x/Pathfinder requires for creating encounters. Absolutely. RPGs that can't seem to tolerate characters dying (see recent D&D editions, especially the coming one!) are "lame". As for my "experience" it mainly comes f...

Re: (BHP) Appendix N Adventure Toolkits KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!

I upgraded as well. As you've pointed out, the campaign is already a success. I think people get hung up on all these stretch goals. Isn't that why stretch goals exist? When the project was not yet fully funded people were hung up on getting it funded. Why stop there? That is the way that Kickstart...

Re: DCC and AD&D

I agree mostly with your post, but still think there is a difference between the party crushing ONE troll in one round, having to work together to defeat FOUR trolls, and being annihilated in 2 rounds by TEN trolls. As a DM(Judge), I do want the party to struggle and succeed against the odds. Most ...

Re: DCC and AD&D

A good adventure is basically a great plot and an the right "mood" linking rooms/monsters and characters. The rule system comes in second. So by all mean, there are tons of AD&D stuff suitable for DCC RPG. I agree with this. That is why I am going to take the structure of the old modu...

Re: The Kickstarter madness has me thinking about dice

DCCRPG seems to have surpassed everyone's high expectations and I am guessing that it is selling well. There definitely seems to be an opportunity here for an "official DCCRPG dice set" that would include all of the dice, be reasonably priced, and have a unified color scheme. I'm surprise...

Re: Updating the old modules?

A while ago Harley posted a port of DCC #29 to the forum. Other than that they haven't been updated yet. I believe he has plans to update a few more of them at some point.

My understanding is that the focus will be on new material specifically written for the new system.

I am happy also! :-) I would like to have "The Old Isle" however. If we don't manage to make it to $15,000 I hope John puts it out in general release at some point. Same, or uses it as an incentive on the next Kickstarter (maybe at a lower goal point). The only reason I see it being diffi...

In all seriousness, welcome to the group. I think you are going to like it here. If you like the RPG, you should definitely check out the DCC adventure modules. I think you will like those as well.
