In my group last week, we had a good laugh about elves buying armor when the DM, pointing at each elf in turn, quipped:

"You purchase mithril leather armor, and you buy mithril hide."

The party was attempting to sack a temple out in the desert in the name of the party cleric's god, and had managed to foul up their plans and get surrounded by a horde of lizard-man slaves being commanded into battle against he party by a trio of priests. A crow familiar would be an awesome perk. A spy, distraction, etc. Especially if you could see thru its eyes or communicate with it. A flock of crows attacking enemies, or providing a distraction so the Thief can escape sometime is another bonus. I love this idea, especially the murder of crows as ...

The crow could also evoke a "deepening of shadows" in a specific radius when Malotoch favors the thief's actions or to signify the patron's presence (e.g. 'you're on the right path to success' type hints).

I know it sounds sooooo unoriginal. But I still use Greyhawk for all my games! It helps to have the mega 5X4 foot map on the wall behind the gaming table..
