Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG

We will be running multiple DCC games (and playtesting the new priest mechanics!) at Tacticon , Sept 1 - 5th. The streets of Punjar will run red with the blood of PCs! //H Myself and three friends already have our tickets and can't wait!! I playtested the priest earlier at GenghisCon, might have to...

This sounds awesome. If you need another player in the area, I'd be more than happy to participate!

Re: Ah, Nostalgia!

As one of the players in that B/X adventure let me chime in to say it definitely has been fun so far. We're about to spend our first night out in the wilderness this Sunday though, we'll see if any of our redshirted henchmen don't make it through the night. Funny thing is, I'm using my old beat up c...

Re: questions about combat

Falling damage is definitely one of my pet peeves. Falling should be handled something like lava. Anything over 30ft should be instant death. I dunno, every now and then the DM can roll 1's on all of the fall damage dice... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesna_Vulovi%C4%87 sidenote: Looks like...

Re: Blackdirge’s Dungeon Denizens as Monster Manual for DCC

To avoid rulebook bloat in general, I'm leaning toward only doing one additional rulebook a year after the core book. The additional one would be called the "DCC Annual" (for 2012, 2013, etc.) and would include any new rules, errata, clarifications, and generally cool ideas that came up in the last...

Re: Warrior mechanics

You know what always bugged me about feats in 3.x? It always seemed to be a list of things I would never be able to do. I saw it as restrictive... I'd get what, 6 to 10 feats off of a list of 40? Weak. And I always saw things that I thought to myself, "Whoa, that'd be sweet to pull of in a fight." ...

Re: Warrior mechanics

I'd have to dig out my old books to confirm but wasn't 10th level when it was pretty much assumed that you became a lord of some sort, created a stronghold based on your class, attracted followers, protected and taxed your people, settled disputes, i.e. retired? Let us never forget the immortal word...

Re: DCCRPG Playtest at GenghisCon 2011

I really like it that magic is dangerous and deadly. It is the perfect counter to the "caster dominance" problem from 3.x and Pathfinder. That, however, is only a beneficial side effect. I find the magic system to be really fun. You could make quite an adventure out of spell research. Think about w...

Re: DCCRPG Playtest at GenghisCon 2011

Thanks guys. Once I saw the conversation here and mntnjeff's blog I just had to contribute. Actually, now that I think a bit more carefully about what I just said there, it might be a little too much work for the DM. Each spell has a chart, and that would be a total PITA for a DM to be switching bet...

Re: DCCRPG Playtest at GenghisCon 2011

As one of the "first time players" in this session I wanted to add my two cents. First off, as dkeester and mntnjeff both pointed out, the adventure and Harley's DMing were both superb. Most of my convention time is usually spent playing formulaic RPGA adventures. While perusing the event listings I...

After our party defeated the sentry outside, a search of his lookout post enabled us to find some dwarven ale (?) I forget exactly what it was but it was alcoholic (good) and flammable (even better). We doused the ooze with the liquid and went to town on it with torches. (we figured the torches were...

Hail and well met everyone. I was a member of Masters of the Pwniverse. Even though we only made it to Round II our team had a great time and are looking forward to next year. Not to mention the printed module so we can see what we missed this year. A couple of notes. We went with Corebrin, Tanlew, ...
