Re: Core setting

I think it's just growing so quickly from 3rd party sources & GFA especially, it would be almost limiting to put out something like #35 for it, just my $.02. Kind of like how the Annual was "the supplement that wasn't needed."

Re: New DM screen i made myself.

Nice stuff. I linked it here for anyone wanting to see it directly: https://nwaepa.blogspot.com/search?q=dm+screen

I personally find myself using crit tables more often than the Turn Unholy table, so I should probably do one of these too at some point.

Re: Running DCC with One player and One GM

Is it possible? How do you go about it? Have any of you done so? If so how did it go? I've done it, and it works fine. If you think of video game RPGs, you often have one player controlling 3-8 characters, so it's not really different from that. The big difference to me is that combat seems a bit m...

buy and manage all those dice The only one that's tricky to simulate with "regular" dice, and it's barely tricky, is the d7 (and by extension, the d14). The simplest way is to roll a d8, but re-roll anytime an 8 comes up. Simulating a d3 is easy, a d5 likewise. A d14 is using the d7 method above, b...

I don't think they're overpowered, but I see what you're saying. IMO they make up for, say, a wizard's frailty and unreliability in battle though, so there's that to think about.

Trend of Overpriced Kickstarters

I was excited to be notified of KSes for some new modules, but $8.00-$10.00 for a funnel PDF, no stretch goals? Maybe I'm a frugal crank, but even the official Goodman DCC modules are $6.99 -- and $4.00 when they're on sale! I would love to see these come down in price in general, with more rewards ...

Re: Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad #4-6: Abandoned Kickstarter?

"Artists are flaky" is hella weak, not to mention insulting to artists. It's a compliment. It really isn't though. Plenty of artists set deadlines and meet them and refund their clients if they can't deliver. Those who don't, don't keep getting work. The question is, at what point are refunds in or...

Re: Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad #4-6: Abandoned Kickstarter?

"Artists are flaky" is hella weak, not to mention insulting to artists. I've backed quite a few KS projects and have never had one fall through like this before. "He will either do it or he won't" is also just an obvious statement of fact, not a defense. The question is, at what point are refunds in...

Re: Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad #4-6: Abandoned Kickstarter?

I hope they are too. It's looking highly doubtful as Adam has posted a couple of "updates" this winter which consisted of two pieces of art -- basically what you would expect as a teaser going IN to the project, not long after it was due -- and a half-apology. No updated timetables, nothing. And no ...

Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad #4-6: Abandoned Kickstarter?

It looks like there's another Brave Halfling Publishing situation going on at the Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad #4-6 Kickstarter. Three issues were promised for July through September 2019 by creator Adam Muszkiewicz, over $7000 was pledged, and absolutely nothing has been produced so far (April 29 2020). ...

Restoring STA Points -- Potions? Spells?

A few of the PCs in the party I judge for have bled out many, many times and are nearing death (3 STA). I was thinking of maybe having pity on them and allowing a few of them to restore a couple of STA points either through a rare potion, an encounter with a powerful genie-type character, etc. Anyon...

Re: Warrior/Thief Advancement

But what choices/advancements make individual warriors distinct from each other? Also thieves? For characters who can't easily use magic (though Warriors can have patrons, and Thieves can use scrolls), it's going to be more of a magic equipment question: a demon sword, magical armor, etc. that othe...

Re: Missed opportunity? Ability Score based +/-D modifiers?

Also, I love the progression of the Dice Chain as it is. Those single steps, then double steps, then quadruple steps, ending with a sextoople step just works, since if you're rolling a smaller die, a smaller step makes a bigger difference, and that "worthyness" is true of the higher, larger steps. ...

Re: Missed opportunity? Ability Score based +/-D modifiers?

Just using my proposed D modifier table & dice chain. I dunno, maybe its not 'perfect" but certainly seems viable possibly with refinement. Viable? Sure. Necessary? Not to me. Who wants to keep switching dice for different PCs? Seems cumbersome. By changing the die you're rolling, you're also chang...

The only function I see spell level having is a level-based gateway to keep players from using spells before ...

Re: race-as-class vs class-as-race

Personally, I prefer the esthetic of characters morphing over time into something much more unique than a Class, so keeping the Classes really simple (as they are) as a base on which to build is preferable. Like for a short while I had a player with a Warrior, but he could cast magic if it came fro...

Definitely Stephen King -- lots of Lovecraft mythos works in his short stories collections and novels -- and Clive Barker (Books of Blood and Weaveworld are solid).
