Max Spell Level & Learning New Spells

Hello, Does the Max Spell Level Entry on Table 1-12 restrict the Wizard from to learn and cast a spell of higher level? For example, if a 1st level Wizard finds a grimoire that describes the 2nd level spell Invisibility, when he reaches 2nd level, can he attempt to learn the spell and cast it? Table...

Re: 0-Level PCs & Higher Level PCs

Have any of you experienced play where 0-level PCs adventure with higher level PCs, say 3rd/4th level? I have not. I am willing, however, to theory-play around with the idea... I'm loath to give away free levels. I would say that of myself, too. Though I doubt I would mean it quite the way you do. ...

0-Level PCs & Higher Level PCs

Hello fellow crawlers, Have any of you experienced play where 0-level PCs adventure with higher level PCs, say 3rd/4th level? If so, how'd it go? I'm thinking ahead about my campaign, and if/when PCs start dying off once the campaign starts into the higher levels and how I want to deal with new char...

Hey guys - would the cultists all use Crit Table I and roll 1d4 for their crit die? What about a Yellow-robed Cultist (Table III, 1d10 crit die)?

The People of the Pit & Áereth

Hello fellow crawlers,

Any idea where in Áereth that The People of the Pit takes place? It says "north", but I'm wondering if the designers had a specific location in mind when designing the adventure.

Re: Dwarf's Sword & Board

If you only want an official answer, your best bet is to PM or e-mail them directly. If you want other folk's to chip in, here's my tuppence: It's a melee attack. Strength modifiers apply to melee attack damage. Nowhere does it intimate that you wouldn't add the Strength modifier to the shield bash...

Dwarf's Sword & Board

Mr. Goodman (or Harley),

The dwarf's sword & board class ability says the shield bash does 1d3 damage. Is this modified by Strength, or is it just a flat 1d3 for all dwarves?

Thanks in advance.

I don't see this stated in the rules, would you mind pointing me to the page?

I believe the rule is left out and not clarified because each group can run the initiative however they like, static or dynamic. Personally, I'm in the dynamic camp.

Re: Is Aereth the default setting for the DCC RPG?

I really hope Áereth continues to serve as the default setting. Based on what I'm reading in the core rules that seems to be the case. I would love to see Goodman Games release a series of Known World Gazetteers with hand-drawn, illuminated, poetic-style maps (see page 364). That would make me very ...

The con was an immense amount of fun. We had a full table at every game, and they were some of the nicest gamers I've had the chance to throw dice with. NTRPG is very much "the little con that could," with special guests Paul Jaquays, Tim Kask, Rob Kuntz, Steve Winter and Dennis Sustare (for whom t...

DCC First Edition / Black Blade Publishing

Hello, I can't express how awesome it is that the DCCs are going to be converted to First Edition! Thanks to all involved! This allows you to "bang" your back wheels off the coping and pop your deck in your hand. This is a lot like a nocomply trick on street. Wow. I never realized this. - try and resi...

Hey - what's the difference between DCC and Master Dungeons?
