Re: Something about Agility and attacking from behind bother

To me it seems to be a bit complicated for something that doesn't happen at every combat. A thief gets a bonus to backstab because they are sneaking up upon someone. They get this when the opponent is not aware of them. If they are aware they do not get the bonus. But he has to make a stealth check ...

Re: Conversions

I am not familiar with Iron Kingdoms Unleashed but I can give you a few items to consult. Crawl # 8 has firearm rules (if I am not mistaken they are the same rules used in CUABM though they may be expanded a bit.) High Caliber Hijinks cover some crit and fumble charts that you may find useful. Hones...

Re: Mutant Crawl Classics pre-order?

I think the other reason that kickstarters have become is it allows them to put out a lot of extra content that they would not be producing if it wasn't for the ks campaign. For example, let's look at just the chained coffin kickstarter: Original concept was the module itself. With the kickstarter s...

Re: Saving throws

I had the same issue pop up when I was leveling characters. For some reason I looked at the chart and thought sure they are cumulative. This was at the end of a six hour session. I sat down later and took a breather and went..wait, that's not right. Wasn't hard to correct but it is something that ap...

Re: Museum of Death for sale before kickstarters receive it?

Yeah it's pretty common for them to print stuff out for people to pick up at GenCon. I think sometimes they might sell a few or maybe give them away as prizes as well though I could be wrong about that. I hope I am not though. I backed the kickstarted and know that I will be getting my stuff so if t...

Re: The Vertical Halls - Now Available!

My print copy came in a couple of weeks ago and I sat down to read it last week. Can't wait to run this. One of the better dungeons I have read. Lots of coolness here.

(Edited because one should never type and post from a phone. At least not if that person is myself.)

Re: upcoming DCC adventures

Personally, I am looking forward to the MCC kickstarted later this year. I haven't picked up any of the new mods as I am hoping that they will be included as add-ons to help push the project the way they were with Chained and Purple Planet. Any word on if this will be the case or not?

Re: Purple Planet encounters?

I have the purple planet box set but have yet to read it as I just started to play through it last night. Even then I am not sure I could say you are or are not running too many encounters without knowing if this is a problem at the table for you or your players. Are they engaged? Do they seem bored...

Re: "Fixing" DCC RPG

I know some people who want to their players to have higher ability scores. I have played games with higher ability scores. I have no problem with it. But, I prefer 3d6 in order. As Crom intended. Mostly because it fits my idea of the hero. Which is that anyone can be a hero. That one doesn't need t...

Re: Experiences running Sailors on the Starless Sea (Spoiler

I had a similar experience with my current group when I ran them through sailors. I leveled them up right before they reached the beach area. I made sure they and enough encounters by throwing in a few run-ins in the hallways going down. I too was worried that they wouldn't make it through the modul...

Re: "Burn" for other classes than Wizards?

Yes a wizard can take over by burning stats and luck, etc. But two things to remember: 1) The wizard, after burning all of his stats, is going to be much weaker. And he is going to need protection after all of that. Now if this is a one-shot then it has no true consequences. Or if you tend to not do...

In regards to spell research and traveling, adventuring wizards I have always thought they did most of the work in the field. Because I don't know about you, but I never come up with all my ideas when I am sitting down reading over things that might play into the next adventure. Most of my better id...

Re: Stamina Modifier

The benefit of not rolling stats until you use that stat is that you can get right into the game. Over on Adam's blog, http://www.kickassistan.net, he discusses this and had a nice little option to place two hash marks on the character sheet. At anytime a score is rolled that the player does not lik...

Re: Sense & Sensibility & Wizards

Magic in DCC is supposed to be dangerous and mysterious. To get there you have to put aside some basic assumptions that you have picked up from other games. At least this has been my experience when I was introduced to the game. One of my first assumptions I had to put away was that a wizard, or cle...

Re: Sense & Sensibility & Wizards

I was thinking about this the other day. Quick and dirty idea....mages and clerics get an int check when facing something magical. Maybe add their level into the check. Set a dc for the magic in question. Allows some gleaming of a magical nature in very general terms. To go further detect magic spel...

From the g+ group for fans of the ASE. I found the computerized cube. If you have any kind of tech in your world how can u not throw this at your players. Computerized Cube When a gelatinous cube engulfs a robot, it can not fully digest the robot. If the robot cannot escape the cube, over time the s...

Re: Tracking time and random encounters?

DCC doesn't seem to be as detailed about resource management as games like D&D/LL, but part of that –I assume– is deliberate to leave things up to individual GMs. The note about tracking encumbrance seems to follow this vein. A character who carries too much weight is slowed down. Use common se...

Time Keeping is mentioned on page 76 of the main book. The basics - a round is 10 seconds. Exploration outside of combat is in turns. Each turn is approximately 10 minutes. All combats are rounded up to 1 turn, with additional time spent mending wounds, repairing armor, praying to the Gods to grant ...

Not Harley, but I from what I have read on the forums and what I do is to level them up before the Sea. It's not something I usually like to do, as I prefer them to level up at the end of a session rather than in the middle, but I look at this module as an intro to all the greatness that is DCC. A f...

Re: Neutralize Poison or Disease vs. Lay on Hands

Lay on Hands is only going to affect on person. Neautralize person has the possibility of curing everyone around them with a high enough spellcheck. Not only that, starting at the 20-21 range you start getting a bonus to saves vs poison for sliding durations (depending on spellcheck.) They're just d...
