Re: 5th level cleric spells > wizard spells
The ability to level an entire city > a secret magic assassin. Great game. But I hold these truths to be self evident. What is 'self evident' about that? Righteous Fire can't touch an enemy who is a thousand miles away, but an Unerring Hunter can. Righteous Fire always risks collateral damage, but ...

Re: 5th level cleric spells > wizard spells
I'll disagree with you, and I'll even do it without having to talk about why game balance is unimportant in DCC. First, you're comparing apples and oranges. A wizard can use Lokerimon's Unerring Hunter to exterminate an enemy without having to get his hands dirty, and with no collateral damage. A cl...

Re: So how is Sword INT used in DCC...?
It feels like the rules are deliberately vague on this topic. Judges are expected to come up with a system for 'ego-checks' that they are personally fond of-- for example, I'd never cause a player's alignment or sanity to be changed just by touching a sword, but some judges love that kind of thing. ...

Re: On line DCC
Roll20 works great. Maps and minis work well, and the online dice roller is fantastic. You type "/roll 28d6" and then it's all automated. Has a little tab where you can keep your character sheets and whatever else.

Re: Stomp the typo / Errata & FAQ
I'm unsure if people have found this one already...
In the spell result 30-31 for the Strength spell (page 198) says "Additionally, they gain 18 Strength (+4 bonus) for the next 1d6 hours thereafter." Looks like a typo that should say +3.

Re: Ability Scores at 2, 1 and 0
I don't ever let any score go below 3. To me at a 3 your like a 90+ year old that can barely move think or even keep your balance. Add to that a luck of 3 and you become the 90+ year old with a red shirt on. Your just asking for it at that point. I agree with you DCCfan, but I hardly thing a person...

I always assumed it was a modifier to rolls on the crit table.

Re: Ability Scores at 2, 1 and 0
Thanks for these replies, I find the variety of rulings fascinating! :D In particular, I like the variety of rulings for low-Personality characters. I'm not sure I would force party members to rob and murder their zero-Personality PC, but I like the idea that they attract lynch-mobs or frighten othe...

Re: Luck score table question
Hi MonsterSlayer, I actually was wondering the same thing. Personally, to speed up character creation and all that, I don't bother to make my players roll a Birth Augur unless they actually have a luck modifier. If they burn their luck down to such a point that they now have a negative modifier, I m...

Welcome Hungerstriker, I look forward to reading what you're ready to share! Thanks, Skyscraper! Yeah, "habitual homebrewer" is not something to feel guilty about! Oh man, you should see the 'notes' I take during classes. At the top of the page is something useless like, "T...

Ability Scores at 2, 1 and 0
What happens when a character's Abilities are reduced to an extremely low number? This seems like an especially important question for DCC-- not only are the usual ability-draining enemies around, but Spellburn and luck-burn can also put a character's scores into this range. I checked the chapter on...

Re: Resources for magic items... and the Revelations of Mulm
Here's a few ideas, a bit later than you might have hoped. Tell me what you think! Hammer of Bone Shattering This Warhammer has a very long shaft made out of an unknown wood, and carved with Runes in some ancient Giant language. Tt at first seems to be extremely heavy, and a character must have 13 S...

Re: Classic (A)D&D Modules Ideal for DCC
Now i'm wondering how does level of DCC parties work out in relation to old AD&D Modules? I have found that 3.5/pathfinder modules tend to work out where double the level works for a DCC party. So for example a 6th level module would work out pretty well for a 3rd level DCC party. If anyone has...

Re: Making the Dwarf more unique
For me Dwarves are more about flavour than anything - I have no problem with them RAW. Dwarves have always been "basically fighters but different" as far as I am concerned in most D&D and fiction generally. Did a lot of thinking about this at work today (there honestly isn't really an...

Making the Dwarf more unique
Maybe I'm alone in this sentiment, but I've always found the Dwarf class to be a little bit bland, relative to the other nonhumans. Halflings have cool a fighting ability, a Thief skill, and that 'good luck charm' thing going on. Elves don't really have many abilities that ordinary Wizards wouldn't ...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Hi everyone! I've been lurking on the forums for entirely too long, and finally decided to go ahead and make an account. I'm actually a college student, and I moved out to the middle of nowhere so I could get this summer job. When I do have free time, I'm reeeally bored. My usual gaming groups are a...
