Thanks all! I thought I was going crazy skipping from page to page trying to find the rules (I don't have a pdf to search ).
I can ad-hoc something.
Thanks again.

Ego Check
Some of the magic sword bane abilities reference an "ego check". For the life of me, I can't find where in the rules it talks about how you do an ego check.
Anyone have a page number for me?
Thanks!

Re: Restore Vitality
Thanks but you are getting of topic of my question. The spell clearly cures "permanent" conditions with a check of 20+ (written in the spell description). My question is that the spell says it only restores "drain". It does not say it restores "penalty" or "loss&qu...

Restore Vitality
The wording of Restore Vitality seems imprecise and confuses me. It says you can restore ability score *drain*. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but the word "drain" somehow seems different to me than all of the rule references that applies a permanent *penalty* or a permanent "lo...

Re: Regaining Luck
There are no rules I can quote, but from a game balance perspective, I think capping Luck at initial or 18 is essential. If you allow Luck to grow, game will become unbalanced. Imagine a character with 30 Luck (+8 or so bonus).

Permanent Hit Point Loss
When a wizard loses a familiar, he "permanently" loses hit points. Is there a way in the rules to regain these lost hit points? While not explicitly stated, it seems like the cleric spell Restore Vitality might work.

Re: Regaining Luck
Beermotor - I'm not sure you have a firm grasp of the rules in what things Luck effects. You say +15% is not abusive. Are you aware Luck is also used for Corruption, Mercurial Magic, Critical Hits (character), Critical Hits (monster) and Fumble checks to name a few? Since you like numbers, a +3 Luck...

Re: Regaining Luck
It seems there will be no official answer forthcoming. As a result, my group plans to play that Luck is capped at initial Luck. This interpretation avoids all potential abuse. It also fits well with our view of things that some people are just born Lucky or not just as others are born Strong, Intell...

Re: Regaining Luck
Thanks for the replies. I agree with your point that you can house rule to play Luck however you want. I just would like to know what the core rules intend is all. I do not follow your leap of logic when you say that because starting characters have ability scores between 3-18, that some how the de-...

Re: Regaining Luck
The problem is that nothing in the rules says Luck can't exceed 18. and there is a precedent that ability scores can go over 18 (e.g. spell effects, etc.). My view on it is that some people are just born luckier than others - but I recognize that is my own worldview and not shared by many. In any ca...

Re: Regaining Luck
I agree with your points pointing out, though, that in the playtest allowing a character to drain Luck to 1 does not answer the question whether one can increase above starting value. If a player is very frugal with their luck, only spending it when they might otherwise die, I would see that in gene...

Re: Regaining Luck
If Luck can increase above the starting score, then Luck largely becomes an irrelevant ability at character creation. Yes, I know that one randomly determined birth augur is locked in at character creation, but it is very likely that the randomly determined augur will not have an impact to the chara...

Re: Regaining Luck
Well, the reward wouldn't be so sucky, it would just encourage players to use a couple points of luck during the module.

Re: Regaining Luck
My group has very different views on the earlier question re-posted here --> "Is the initial score rolled at PC generation a hard limit on Luck, or can you exceed that e.g. you rolled 13, burnt 2 points in adventure, get +3 at end of adventure, is your Luck now back to 13, or is it 14? If the l...
