Use blindness, page 89.
-4 to attacks, -2 to AC, move at half speed.
If you are completely guessing where to attack, take a -8 penalty instead.

Re: Luck Check
That rule only applies to the result of the birth augur table on page 19. For example, if your character rolled 29 on the table, Birdsong: number of languages, then his or her starting languages is modified by his luck modifier. As his or her luck goes up and down, he or she does not gain or lose la...

I like it! Do you have Carcosa in case the party beams themselves to the alien world?

Re: Tales of the Fallen Empire: other questions
Regarding the barbarian, it is OK for the ferocity die to exceed the most powerful result, as the main rule book does not list mighty deeds with results above 7 - those results will just occur with a higher frequency if the warrior rolls a d10 deed die. In addition, the barbarian has the option to c...

Re: Failed House Rules
You could just have excluded backstab from the rule (i.e. daggers would do max BASE damage, not the special backstab damage).
I assume the spells did not do max damage on a natural 20, so I'm not sure why you can't make backstab an exception as well.

Re: Luck use and mighty deeds
The deed die adds to both to-hit AND damage. Any warrior who has a choice between adding luck to a deed die or an action die is automatically going to choose the deed die. The mighty deeds would be icing on the cake (I wouldn't allow it).

Re: Wizard Power
The Wizard in question has a +6 to her casting roll at 2nd level. Now I do realize part of this is perhaps not keeping as tight a eye on character creation as I should have. The +3 for Int along with the +1 for luck due to the Luck Roll and +2 for the level is a little much. Should be +5, not +6. D...

Re: Isle of the Unknown Campaign Mapping
I'm interested in using most of these materials in a Wilderlands campaign. Pembrooktonshire is a problem for me because of the Victorian era feel. The first module features a printing press selling cheesy novels to a bunch of literate residents. The town is not exactly filled with DCC-style serfs. D...

Re: Classic (A)D&D Modules Ideal for DCC
I don't remember much about L1 & L2, but I played in an AD&D campaign that combined these modules with EX1 & EX2 (Alice in Wonderland modules by Gygax). My bard lost his hair and reverse-aged to 14 years old. The paladin in our group turned purple, had a sex change, and was 10 feet tall....

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge: RANGER!
You have a good point, but the goal of the thread is to create a ranger class. To declare a warrior with a wilderness background to be a ranger is a perfectly viable option in anybody's game, but it is outside the scope of this thread. One rule that could be introduced to reflect the campaign's narr...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge: RANGER!
The favored enemy should be suggested by the DM - if the campaign has a common enemy that threatens to come out of the wilds to overrun civilization, that creature or class of creature should be the favored enemy. It could be human barbarians with a specific culture in the campaign, for example. As ...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge: RANGER!
I endorse this version of the ranger, with a couple of minor changes: 1) Allow bonus languages as per the wizard, but these languages must be chosen from the animal languages. 2) Remove the luck modifier to the skills (modifier can be negative, and the ranger is already behind the thief in skills) 3...

My campaign might need these classes:
