Re: What'z going into your DCC Dm kit?

I've thought about the Dungeon Alphabet but I can't get a good grasp on how it will improve the game for me. Is the Wilderness Alphabet by Goodman games!?! Dungeon Alphabet is a neat, for two reasons for me- it has random charts, so if yer stuck for ideas a roll on a table might get you started aga...

Re: What'z going into your DCC Dm kit?

I've been using Dungeon Alphabet, Tome of Adventure Design, & Wilderness Alphabet, a "battle mat", dry erase markers, a ton of Otherworld mini's (Can't wait until I get my "Dungeon Adventurers" from them. ).

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

He mentions drow once in the book but I never really saw what I would consider a dark elf. And when he mentioned drow he didn't give a description of what it was. It was like "Skafloc wondered if that was a drow sitting in the darkness". Don't know if Gygax said, "oh drow! I can use ...

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

Drow seem to have come mainly from Anderson. God I hope he is MUCH better at them than that Drizzt Author. Yeah, I got the same "vibe" from Drow. It's been a long time since I read Anderson, never read any "Drizzt" stuff. No appeal there for me. Of Andersons books my favorite wa...

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

I always thought they where based on what Gygax and his friends decided they were,,,, I just got the impression they drew more from J.R.R then Anderson . In the end, they are neither Tolkien or Anderson Elves, they are the Elves of D&D. As far as Mr. Moorcocks opinion is concerned-if every elf i...

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

If it were a game that was based on Andersons book....yes. But I'm going gonna say no. D&D elves, while inspired by Tolkien are their own seperate thing. IIRC D&D elves can't do a lot of things Poppa Ts elves did (walk on snow, didn't need to sleep, could see for miles and miles, are immorta...

Re: elves and iron

Maybe its a sort of anti fey /elf 'radiation', and close proximity effects them?

Re: Curious about the DCC RPG crowd...

Oddly enough my first exposure to rpgs was Gamma World. Not D&D. My brothers and I were in to AH & SPI games as teens. The local game shop had a copy of Gamma World shelved along side Squad Leader, luftwaffe and Panzer Leader. My older brother mistook it for some kind of PA squad level game....

Re: Three Things I Don't Love About DCC

I don't have anything I really "dislike" about the game. I do have some concerns: 1- I wonder about the longevity of this game with my players. They are having a blast now, but I wonder when they are going to get bored with rolling up new characters. They don't expect to have indestructibl...

Re: Anybody daring to swear he doesn't roll concealed? ;)

I used to be in a D&D 3e campaign for 1 and half years and one of the player always rolled his D20 "concealed" by opening a hard cover book and rolling on the first page and then hastily removing the dice and closing the book. I don't think he ever rolled below 15 (no one could really...

Re: Three Things I Love about DCC

1 That it has an " old school" feel but is not just another " retro clone". 2-the rules are simple & familia enough to my playes, yet different enough to keep them interested/ engaged. 3- Surviving the adventurers depends just as muchon the players inventiveness /imagination....
