Re: Logos & trade dress

The "compatible with" logo that you've seen on other third-party items is available if your products are approved by Goodman Games. IIRC, you are not allowed to mimic Goodman Games' trade dress. Of course the way to find out for sure if this is viable is to contact them and propose what you want to...

Logos & trade dress

I am interested in creating some 6"x6" spell and monster cards for use with DCC. I have a couple of questions for those with knowledge on the topic: - Are 3PP allowed to use the DCC logo? - Are 3PP allowed to mimic the trade dress (fonts, layout, etc) of the DCC rulebook? - Has anyone, to your knowl...

Do you own specialty dice (d5, d7, d14, etc)?

If you don't own or use the specialty dice (d5, d7, d14, d18, d24), what method do you use to make those dice rolls?

Re: Looking for a non-dungen crawl adventure

If you asking about DCC RPG adventures ( boneguard is addressing some old 3E adventures) most of the adventures put out recently are not dungeon crawls: Bride of the Black Manse, (republished) Doom of the Savage Kings, Courts of Chaos, & Fates Fell Hand definitely not dungeon crawls. The up coming ...

Looking for a non-dungen crawl adventure

Sorry for my ignorance, but are there published adventures that aren't dungeon crawls? I'm looking for stuff with wilderness travel & encounters, cities & towns, etc.

Apart from that question, are there any adventures that are intended to form an epic campaign?

Re: What would the four 'core' appendix N classes be?

It seems like monk types and cultists were often referred to in Appendix N lit, couldn't the cleric essentially be the amalgam of those personas? Yes ano no (IMHO, of course). There are certainly many priests in this stuff, but I don't ever recall reading of any armored, mace-weilding healers. The ...

What would the four 'core' appendix N classes be?

We've all grown accustomed to the four 'standard' classes of fighter/warrior, wizard, thief, and cleric. But, while the former 3 classes all seem to fit well within the appendix N tradition, I would argue that the cleric really doesn't fit the pre-1980 mold of fantasy lit (certainly not that of Howa...

...In that vein, I wish dwarves didn't use Mighty Deeds of Arms, but instead had their own unique niche. Not to derail the thread, but I have a 'battle-rage' mechanic for Dwarves that is basically, they get to automatically succeed on an attack roll, Save in battle or other battle-related endeavor,...

Re: What is the inspiration for DCC elves?

Alternatively, you could just let them roll 1d20 for woodland skills. If you want to do the work, you should do it. If you do not want to do the work, you can just assume elves are trained at woodsing. Well, I feel stupid now... yeah, that would work! Of course, I also wish elves didn't merely shar...

Re: What is the inspiration for DCC elves?

The reason I asked the question in the first place is that DCC elves don't appear to have any 'woodland' abilities, which would seem to differentiate them from Tolkien. I've thought of creating a Wood Elf class to address this.

What is the inspiration for DCC elves?

Are the DCC elves playing off the legacy of the D&D B/X elves, or are they drawn from some appendix N source material? I've never read Poul Anderson or Lord Dunsany, so perhaps the DCC elves are drawn from those sources?

I'm totally gonna design a gnome based on those, with a little Shannara gnome sprinkled in!

I just happened to be reading Enchantress at World's End last night, and gnomes were mentioned. What would an appendix N gnome be like???

I know that there are one or two gnome classes floating about, but they are essentially based on traditional D&D gnomes. But would would an appendix N gnome be like? Some type of earth spirit? A Shannara gnome? I'm looking for ideas to design my own version, and would welcome ideas.

Re: Need help developing a wood elf ability

Hey, it's your game, so if you wanna crank it up, more power to you. :) Colin Actually, I think I've come up with a solution; when using a bow the wood elf's attack value is 1 'level' higher than the warrior's base attack score. So d3 becomes d4, and so on. Not sure about the deed die. But the elf'...

Re: Need help developing a wood elf ability

Colin, I generally like this line of thinking. My only issue is that I want the wood elf's ability with the bow to be better than what a warrior could achieve with a bow using MDoA. That's something I'd be very wary about, personally. A Warrior already rocks the casbah combat-wise, so cranking that...

Re: Need help developing a wood elf ability

I'm generally not in favour of giving MDoA to other classes either; however, given that the Dwarf has them, I wouldn't strenuously object if a single elf class used a highly restricted version of them in my games. So, for ease of creation, give them a restricted armour and weapon listing: Armour no...

Need help developing a wood elf ability

I have a marked dislike for the elf class in DCC, so I'm creating my own version called (unimaginatively enough) the wood elf. It's entirely based off Legolas and Robin Hood. No magic, just ridiculous coolness with a bow. I want to create a 'trick shot' ability whereby the elf performs amazing thing...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge: RANGER!

The class above has been well designed, but I have one significant issue: it feels like a D&D 3.x ranger. If DCC draws its inspiration from appendix N, I would urge you to ignore 3.x altogether and look to the source material for inspiration. Whether that means the rangers of LOTR or the borderers o...

Re: Please take a look at my Half-orc class

I actually started with something similar when designing my Orc class, getting bonuses for taking damage. The details were different, but the concept the same. The reason I scrapped it was because the very thing it's predicated on (taking damage) is very inconsistent. Those end of the adventure enc...
