Re: Treasures from GenCon 2012
Hey Doug, yah man I was with my sister at GenCon and two other buddies. I was only able to DM one game in the Hyatt lobby (with a casket of Dragonale btw.) ... and would have loved to play some DCCRPG. You guys planning to be at GenCon next year?

Re: Treasures from GenCon 2012
Art is pretty awesome. I make it a point to get a few pieces of original/prints (always signed) every year that I go. I just moved so I haven't had a chance to hang anything yet. Also waiting to finish the basement and make the "gaming cave" where all these pieces can go. One of my favouri...

Treasures from GenCon 2012
So another great GenCon came and went... had an awesome massage (even though it looks like the therapist was probing me). http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg556/bigironvault/P1000737.jpg But I did get two awesome treasures! Some may recognize the first original piece of art I picked up... http://...

DCC RPG in West Brampton/Mississauga (Legends of Thumbnail)
Hello everyone, as we bid farewell to one of our players (Galadrin) and wish him all the best in his life journeys, we're now looking for 1 or 2 more players to fill the spot. Campaign: An epic story about regular folk taking on an evil, megalomaniac lich sorcerer with an unquenchable need to take o...

Re: Greatest line heard in last night's DCC game
Even when the funnel is over I still give each player 0-level characters if they "find" them in the game. So there's always a bunch of cannon-fodder. It also doesn't make me feel too bad when I kill off a few level 1's here and there.

Re: Curious about the DCC RPG crowd...
I really started to get into it around '86 or so. Discovered the Elmore and Easley Dragon covers (get to meet Elmore every year at GenCon now, have him hit on my sister, and own SO much stuff from him)... and never looked back. Young enough to "could have fallen" into 3rd Ed. But old enoug...

*Updated Sep 1st, 2012* Hi everyone I thought that I would put all the summaries of my games in one place. These have been written by Galadrin, one of my players. Hope you enjoy reading about it as much as I had running them. Always looking for new players in the Greater Toronto Area btw. Just PM m...

Re: Three Things I Don't Love About DCC
Not to mention that, once you have hit 1st level, the rules of DCC (recovering the body, specifically) make it that much harder to actually die in the fist place. I still think they are quite squishy - a judge can easily one-shot a level 1. I dealt 26 points of damage with a well rolled magic missi...

Re: Anybody daring to swear he doesn't roll concealed? ;)
I always roll open with everything except where it makes sense to roll concealed - ie. Spot for trap, disguise, etc.
Why give up the randomness - it's the best part of a story.

The makers of Conquest of the Empire sell extra coinage that works very well and I used them often.

He should be worried he used something like 9 points of spell burn throughout the session. Hence the cloak - he's hiding his wounds.Harley Stroh wrote:So cool! I love how Red Cloak looks worried, and how you can't see grinning crossbow man's eyes.

Re: Levelling up to level 1: time gap in the storyline?
What I do is plant opportunities for players to "learn" occupations throughout the 0-level session and not allow anyone to really level up until they've found the "plant" ie. a spell book, an old cleric etc. Basically it's quite "instant" in my game but it is what it is...

Legends of Thumbnail Part II: My second DCC session
Well, the players were back for more after our first try at DCC RPG. Table was a mess as usual! Two key player deaths in the game. Can I say that a well rolled magic missile is just plain devastating? I'm sure Galadrin will give one of his awesome summary's of our last session. Suffice to say that i...

Re: Best music for gaming
I primarily use Jeremy Soule's stuff from all the Elder Scrolls soundtracks, I use the Skyrim Soundtrack (4CDs!) including an "atmosphere" track that runs for 45 mins. In addition, I stuff from Conan, LOTR etc. but the key is that I make playlists for things like Overland travel, Dungeons,...
