Re: Penalty to Wizard for ditching patron?

I play it out in game. Though the wizard in my group only flirted with the idea of changing patrons. But if he chose to, I would certainly let it happen. Just the original patron has already been proved very jealous and quite knowledgeable. So that patron will certainly interfere with in-game elemen...

Re: Running Funnels at Cons

I am in the camp of not leveling up during a funnel. And I've run a couple of long ones for the funnel as well - Perils of the Sunken City and Sailors. I don't even track XP - survivors get to level.

Re: Gold foil cover, 2nd printing?

...I will consider adding in the foil cover... Maybe in a deep burgundy color instead of black? Just to keep the editions unique and that earlier "limited" run limited. I mean, who would object to blood-red? This would be awesome! And add that distinction to Limited. And leave me looking ...

Re: The Iron Tavern: DCC RPG Blogging

I posted a mini-review of Purple Duck Games compilation of AL1-AL5. In addition to the five adventures being in one product, a framework is provided to link them into a campaign arc for levels 1st through 3rd.

A review of Purple Duck Games most recent release in the Campaign Elements series, Silent Nightfall, has been posted. Another great addition to the CE line.

I'm not going to keep bumping this thread, but since the podcast is new - here is the announcement of episode 2 of the actual play podcast: http://irontavern.com/2013/11/26/episode-2-mission-impossible/ And if you want to load up the feed in your favorite podcast app, here is a direct link to the fe...

Re: Getting Players to Buy Books/Dice

For my online game everyone has the books. So it has never been an issue there.

My home group played DCC for about 2 or 3 months. In that case the judge had the book and I had two copies of the book - one for passing around the table.

Re: Tone

I got the impression from (1) the comics and (2) the spellburn podcast. I like comic bits in my game, but I like to have serious parts too. I am sort of surprised to see Spellburn mentioned. I wouldn't have thought we conveyed a comical nature to the game. My long term game tends towards the dark s...

Re: Spellburn podcast needs an actual play RSS feed

This is likely the closest we're going to get. I am piloting an actual play series of my online game over at The Iron Tavern. The first episode has been posted. We will likely consider this a 3 series pilot and based on feedback determine whether it is worth continuing or not. http://irontavern.com/...

Re: Which is a better Conversion to DCC, Pathfinder or S&W

I would go with the S&W version. It will distill the relevant stats down to what is needed vs. having to filter through a Pathfinder stat block pulling out what you need and disregarding the rest.

Re: The Iron Tavern: DCC RPG Blogging

Running a longer term DCC RPG campaign is a frequent question I see asked in various social media networks. I talk a little about running a DCC campaign at The Iron Tavern:

I've received the Ruins of Ramat portion of the Kickstarter. I posted up some pics at The Iron Tavern. Pretty nice looking module in print form, with some mini-adventures as extras:

Re: multiple characters combineing for a skill check?

I bought the game, since I have players who only like/play d20 systems. I thought it was a fast and simple system to play/run. The more I read, and reread, the less so it seems. With missing or incomplete rules & explanations being the norm. In my experience the systems with rules for every single ...

I do XP just like I do in 3.5/Pathfinder games. Which is to say I don't! I tell the characters when it is time to level up. So I don't hand out XP.

Re: 1st level Cleric spells

We've had this one come up as a question for the Spellburn podcast rather frequently - and we didn't cover it on the Cleric episode! So I expect a future episode to comment on it when we go through email. As for me, I had the clerics roll their spells randomly (the deity gives the cleric the spells ...
