Re: My setting's pantheon

I like it - I was finding a lack of lawful deity descriptions. I'm mashing up the law side with some of the Hyperborean chaotics from AS&SoH.

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.

I finally registered what was nagging at me... well, one of the things - why must a peasant be able to afford arrows? There's a reason that for millennia, peasants, shepherds, and even footsoldiers used slings. Pause a moment and think about what goes into making an arrow. You could spend an entire ...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge! Brainstorm (and class propos

Okay, my official list: [from bitflipr] Martial Artist. Based on the kung-fu crazy of the early 70s, this class mirrors the style of Chinese Wushu (but could be adapted to others such as Karate). Differing from a Warrior's raw attack prowess, the Martial Artist dodges often and times their attacks b...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge! Brainstorm (and class propos

I like the martial artist as posted by bitflipr, and also Barbarian. I don't necessarily think the MA should have the D&D 'open hand' damage - seriously, knife edge hand strike against a gorget? nah. Although was fun to play a 3.0 monk who leapt on a dragon and then KO'd it with Stunning Fist. W...

Re: elves and iron

Bronze. There's a reason it was used as the standard material for arms and armour for thousands of years; it was very effective. :) If your setting follows largely Earth-like development in terms of metallurgy, you could rule that some truly ancient magical items are made from bronze rather than ir...

Re: Patrons supplement Kickstarter live!

I just signed up, and got a good chuckle when I saw the home location of Daventry. It is one of the few places in the UK that I've been to (living in California), having attended a wedding in Badby. I'm pretty sure I stayed in a row house in Daventry on one of the multiple stag nights. I like Northa...

Re: 0 Level Funnel Ideas...

That could work - maybe the villages were raided by the entity that's putting on the games. Sets up the logical 1st level followup of a gladiator revolt. Might be a challenge though keeping track of an entire party named 'Spartacus'.

Re: Pitching DCC to potential players.

I've been thinking on this topic as well. Some of the 'flavor' is specific to the style of campaign you're running, but I had these words in mind for part of the pitch. Note that they may not be mine - I've been reading a lot of GG/DCC and 3rd Party promo materials, and for all I know someone wrote ...

This House Rule / Philosophy fits really well with the Harold Shea (Complete Compleat Enchanter) style of magic.

Re: Layered DCC Character Sheet

Looks great Alegur, even the inclusion of the luck burn section for everyone... it's a bit unneeded in my opinion since everyone can burn luck, but in every case other than Thief and Halfling it is permanent - so you don't need to track more than just the one score to track it correctly. Well, perm...

Re: Layered DCC Character Sheet

Very, very nice! I agree regarding Base/0/0lvl - Base always on would be nice, combine zero-level with zero-level-class which overlay Base. One thing that I think the player would be tracking rather than the Judge is Luck - I think the Base should have Luck / Changed Luck or Luck Burn for luck expen...

Re: 0 Level Funnel Ideas...

I had an idea the other night that might work well for its 'fun' aspect, and might be more appropriate for a party of younger kids. Also, it could be a funny twist for a group that's already played through a DCC funnel and is expecting widespread carnage. It's Medieval-landia, and you live in a farm...

Re: DCC RPG- having problems getting it to work for me/us.

What a wild and insightful thread! While it's unfortunate that it doesn't look like the compatibility is there for this particular group, I loved some of the observations that came from it. While the kid doesn't know that he "gets it" when he observes the risk involved with spellcasting, h...

Mine arrived on the 10th, but I didn't get to post as I was going away for a long weekend without either the book or computer. Looks great! I've already read too much of it and neglected too much work...
