Re: DCC and AD&D
I've never run Slavers, but I often hear the complaint that it is too linear. I don't see it that way myself, but rather it seems like it was designed for an earlier adventuring aesthetic (especially the parts where the players lose their stuff). Mike Monard is doing a tell-all on RPG.net right now,...

Re: DCC and AD&D
When I get to University in September (anyone in the Boston area, let me know!), I am looking to run the T-A-GDQ path of supermodules. The only difference is that I will be using the HackMaster 4th Edition versions, and will be running it in the world of the Knights of the Dinner Table. I will proba...

I won't be back in the States till September, if I get a subscription then, will I get all the back orders (probably 1, 2 and 3?) automatically?

Re: Known Worlds anyone?
I love B10, but I haven't got to run it yet! Maybe DCC is a good opportunity though... I am going with a similar small scale setting. I will be basing it off the world that the Knights of the Dinner Table play in, but we will be starting small and branching off as the adventure takes the knights abr...

Re: Starter Campaign Worlds for Beginners
After a lot of waffling, I am leaning towards some unknown continent on the Garweeze Wurld. I've vowed not to make any more maps, and will stick to ever-expanding flowcharts to organize the party's travels. HackMaster and the Knights of the Dinner Table have a good vibe that DCC can be tweaked to (d...

Re: Great Post on Designing New Level 0 Funnel Adventures
My favourite referee advice: 1) Only roll dice when it is absolutely necessary (e.g. there is something to lose). 2) No second tries (unless in combat, where time is of the essence). 3) Roll once for each plan (not once for each part of the plan). If the plan takes a long time, simply roll at the cr...

Re: Judged my first DCC RPG game today
It was definitely a lot of fun. Keith did a great job customizing the module to keep us on our toes. Here's a play by play of the deaths: After volunteering (being nominated? Or coerced?) to be the town's heroes, the gang of 15 throws a crazy, drunken party at the local tavern to celebrate the impen...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
You happen to have a 3-stage d10 control replacement to get it working as a d30 without adding another die to the roll? Cut out a 6" circle of paper and draw a peace symbol on it (like a pie chart with three equal sections). One section labelled "+0 :( ", the second "+10 :) &quo...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Someone pointed out that you can even play DCC with only 3 dice total: d8, d10, and d12 . First, I'd like to say that I'm really happy to see this thread and the music thread still chugging along and helping people out (from since before the release of the game!). Both threads I started and...

I think stat drain is ultimately more interesting, so I will probably use that for the most part. However, there is a chaos sword in the book that drains XP, if I recall.

3 in 10? No, it doesn't seem to say much. Maybe a Luck check to notice the signs of an ambush?

Not to be a toady, but I have sat by silently since DCC was released, watching us all post about how we would change the game (we are new, this is fresh and exciting... it's understandable). To be honest, however, I read the famous page 314 admonishment to "fear no rule" to mean exactly &q...

I'd say yes, but the player would have to close their eyes and the DM will walk around the room until the blinded player throws a d20 at him!

Re: My DCC-style random race selection chart.
I have to say, I really love Guang's chart and I would NOT make humans more probable. Very Outlands style of crazy. Nothing says old-school like robots and young Balrogs for characters, in my mind. Check out Aplus' work for a similar style:

It's going to be close! To get to $15,000 (the final goal), we need another $4,000 which means $363 a day. According to Kicktraq, this is just about the daily average recently:

Re: My DCC-style random race selection chart.
Nice chart! I'm just curious how you would handle someone rolling up any given race. Maybe someone can chime in with their quick monster-to-PC conversion guidelines? Myself, I'd avoid stat modifiers (as these are not found in DCC's treatment of races anyway) and maybe use the monster stats as a base...

The Crawler's Guide to the Garweeze Wurld
I was sad to see Jolly Blackburn's "Garweeze Wurld" setting go the way of the Dodo with the latest version of HackMaster. It is easily one of my favorite settings, and has just enough humour to be entertaining to read and campaign in. For those who are not familiar with it, it is essential...
