Re: Has anyone ordered dice from Chessex?
Chessex is usually the first place I'll check at conventions for dice (unless I just happen to stumble on the Crystal Caste or GameScience booths before I find them), but the LAST place I'd order from online (and our game store has had problems ordering from them in the past due to minimum quantity ...

Re: Suggested Published Adventures That Would Make for Good
The question seems to be, what wouldn't be suitable for conversion. Almost anything form the old Dungeon magazine and the adventures from the Dragon magazine earlier than that. Eh - Dragonlance modules might be problematic, due to specific setting rules, as could anything for Dark Sun or PROBABLY E...

Re: Suggested Published Adventures That Would Make for Good
If you can find them, a lot of the old Role-Aids modules were great at the lower levels of play (only ones I ever ran at high levels - The Keep and one vaguely Asian-themed one that I'm blanking on the title for - had serious balance and plot issues; but then, so did 1e AD&D...) and would conver...

oh cmon i don't think it's right to pit different classes against each other.. you should check how they work together... It doesn't matter who's stronger between warrior and thief, what matters i that they are not redundant. Or if you need a really valid comparison, set up a series of three or fou...

Re: Suggested Published Adventures That Would Make for Good
Not sure how "classic" it is but, if I hadn't sold all rights to it, I'd have already converted "House of Madness" (http://www.kenzerco.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_26&products_id=643) over. It's essentially the adventure I began about 1/3 of my campaigns with back under 1e ...

Skeleton, p. 157, result 86-90: "The skeleton is formed from a higher level warriors..." should be "...higher level warrior." (singular, not plural). Not to nit-pick, but -- er, scratch that, this is totally nit-picking: A single skeleton could have the remaining leg bone of Dar...

Re: 3d6, in order
I'm curious as to whether folks here plan to do attribute rolls by the book or if this is one of those rules in the book that gets "house ruled" away once the game is published. I'd need to experience a few games on both sides of the screen to be sure, but I suspect there are exactly two ...

It does, however, suggest that future DCC Modules will sell to a smaller base. Oh I doubt THAT - the simplicity of the system means that it should (at least in theory, and for levels 1-5; may have the same problem 3.x had after 5th level of adventures relying too much on system idiosyncracies for &...

Re: Would you use the DCC RPG for long term campaign play ?
The stat thing continues to bug me. In a pretty big way. Whether or not DCC adopts some means of stat recovery or increase per level, I will be doing so in my games of DCC -- using bholmes' suggestions. Over the course of one evening, I saw at least 1 stat permanently dropped one point. That's with...

Re: Dumb idea: Two types of arcane magic
What if there are fundamentally two main types of arcane magic. (By "arcane" I mean wizard magic; toss out clerics entirely from the discussion.) One type would be low-level but pretty safe, the other would be high-level and pretty dangerous. The reasoning is this: when I think about Appe...

Re: what game is most like the DCC RPG?
To be honest the closest in feel would be 1st edition Rolemaster used as an AD&D supplement. You can get reprints on RPGNow or at the company website. For AD&D you can use OSRIC. You may be able to merge Rolemaster Arm and Spell Law with 3.X. Good lord, I hope it's not that complicated. :sh...

Heck, you might even be able to trim out the d3 and d5 because of the ease of substitution with d6 and d10 (halving) and I suppose you could eliminate the d16, d24, and d30 if you had to because you could advocate the control die. The only inconvenient one I see is either the d7 or d14, and given t...

Re: Idea: Remove most negative penalties from DCCRPG
Hamatko's reasons don't line up with the OP so how are his reasons valid for why you don't like it. As I said, only use different dice in permanent situations. Charging is not a permanent situation. So it is just a modifier. Hamatko's main concern was also stated by me: You never want a situation w...

Re: Spells, and what to do with them.... [long]
Personally, I really like the idea (though the layout seems a bit clumsy) of the spell tables - each spell is really 3 to 7 "other spells" (Comprehend Languages merges Read Languages, and Tongues and adds in some area effect variations; Magic Missile combines three or for very similar spel...

I could have sworn I posted this but... Clarification Requests: Page 106, Chill Touch - use of "additional" seems potentially problematic, especially on items: - 12-13 - Perhaps the damage part could be worded as "the next creature you attack takes 1d6 (or 1d6+2 if undead) cold damage...

Re: Would you use the DCC RPG for long term campaign play ?
I echo what Smathis said. The slow wear down of your character (corruption, ability loss) does not lend itself to long term play. It's very cool for an adventure or two but long term you will drive your character in to the ground. One thing - if you really want to use the game for long term campaig...

Re: Zocchi DIce Poll
I think if Joseph can get dice from someone other than GameScience then the sets shouldn't be all that pricey. I wouldn't mind seeing the d3, d5, and d7 using same polyhedral as the d6, d10 and d14, just numbered twice. I'd like to see the highest number on each die inked in a different color so it...

Re: Luck
I personnaly think the whole Luck mechanic needs to be rethought. There are so many oddities to how it functions currently that I think it adds very little to the game other than a lot of head scratching "huh? that makes no sense" moments. My 2c. Actually I agree with this. I would like t...
