I haven he great diaspora of the the death orms, but it is not numbered so I'm not sure if that is the special card or not. I also can't find the glossography. Is that its own book or is it in the back of one the other books and I just missed it? Starting to think they didn't send me an author's edi...

Re: So, will the Chained Coffin be a little less high fantas
After reading some of the PDF I would say the adventure is Sword and Sorcery but with an Appalachian folk tale vibe. It looks really cool and unique.

Thoughts on digest reprints...
just want to say that I picked up the most recent digest reprints. First, let me say that the expanded material is really great. The extra detailed location in Sailors Under a Starless Sea is almost big enough to be its own funnel location (maybe about the same number of rooms as in Portal Under the...

Re: DCC needs just one thing
I would say instead of a starter box set they should make a sandbox setting. You could throw in the quick start rules (already available as a free pdf or, at least it was) to get up some 0 level pcs, plus rules for the first levels 1-3 (Does not need to have every spell for those levels, and would n...

Re: Hound of Hirot questions ( spoilers obviously)
I think one of the rumors on the rumor table is that the demon cannot be turned, and it is indicated that the rumor is true, yet it does not say that in the monster stats. I went with that the monster can be turned, figuring that it is difficult for a level 1 cleric to turn the 4 hd creature, makin...

Re: Hound of Hirot questions ( spoilers obviously)
I thought it could be either type one or two based on its amount of HD (I thought a 4 HD monster was boarder lined between type I and II). I went with type one just because I thought the ability to resist all non-magical damage might be too tough for the party. I think it says some where that the ho...

Re: The Next Point of Business
I would like to see: Judge's screen, a monster book, magic item book a deity/patron book and a sandbox box set detailing different locations to explore, an interesting home base for the party, and a variety of city, wilderness, dungeon/ruin adventures. It could be like castle white rock except inste...

Re: Classic Modules
The only gripe I have - and it's nothing major - is the game topping out at 10th level. I may have to increase the xps needed to level up as I've got so much to throw at them. A 10th-level character in DCC is considerably tougher than a 10th-level character in any edition except for 3e or 4e. I'm r...

Yes, I too am getting quite anxious and excited to receive my PDF. I just finished the second session of running 3rd level characters though the old ravenloft adventure and I am dying to get the full rules to use in our game!

Re: More interested in the DCC release in April than D&DN
DCC has its own unique flavor but in many ways is similar to the games listed above. And DCC is about to have amazing support. It's a good time to love old school gaming! :D YUP! The OSR is kicking butt right now. Totally winning. It helps that they're almost completely compatible with each other. ...

Re: PDF Support
Yes, the "other" part of pre-ordering will be early access to the PDF. RPGNow.com has an easy way to allow me to do this. Check the main GG web site in a couple days for a little more detail on the pre-order offer but in short, the moment I send the book to the printer (i.e., everything i...

Re: DCC and 5e D&D
Another comment by Monte Cooke that has DCC RPG overtones to my mind; We are also experimenting with variations on task resolution. What if, for example, something that used to give you a bonus or a penalty instead modified the dice you roll? A bonus to your attack roll might be the ability to roll...

Re: DCC and 5e D&D
I also play tested 5th ed at DDXP and although I signed an NDA, I belive I would be safe to say that it would not be much work, based on what I saw there, to convert the DCC adventures over and use them. So even if your not a DCC RPG fan but loved their 3rd ed adventures, I would recomend picking up...

Re: What happens when a (n)th level character dies?
So, I got the chanch to play test having one player using 4 level 0 pcs along with two other players each playing a level 3 pc. They fought lizardmen, goblins, an ogre, and had to deal with a trap that would have been an instant kill for the level 0's. Also, I used my house rule of letting them burn...

Re: Dumb idea: Two types of arcane magic
As pointed out before, without the corruption system the entire Wizard spell casting mechanic comes apart at the wheels. That is the only thing from keeping a Wizard from being a spell casting machine. Not necessarily. You could have consequences written into each spell description. Instead of just...

Re: Dumb idea: Two types of arcane magic
If you want a safer version of magic how about just putting in the option to use a lower caster die when casting a spell? If your mage is all goody goody and dosn't want to "play with fire," so to speak, then you can just roll a d16 (or d14, if people that that is a better penalty), and th...

I also like this idea as a way to keep players from allways using something that is sopopsed to be special. I hope better clarification comes out in the full rules.

Re: Idea: Remove most negative penalties from DCCRPG
The irony that is DCC RPG: A pre-D&D Sword & Sorcery Roleplaying Game built on d20, i.e. D&D. But if you use d20 or d16 or d24 or d30 or d14 or d10 for actions, it is no long a d20 game. The hallmark of d20 (from 3e and d20 Modern to 4e and Pathfinder to all the other clones is the sing...

Re: Luck Kind of Sucks
This thread reminds me of KODT strip where brian, playing a level one thief, slays the vampire lord by throwing a stake into the vampire's heart and burning all his luck to slay it, and the DM having a fit because his cool epic level monster that was soposed to last a whole campaign got killed in th...

Excellent stuff. Needs repeating. The flipside to this is "There's nothing wrong with with MM in relation to Fireball if there are no spell levels. Then the differences are indeed simply a matter of style and choice." Yup and thanks. And I can live with that if that's the direction DCC de...

Re: "Attack Die"
On one hand I love the situations you suggest, the possibilities for creative play. On the other hand I want to have henchmen and hirelings be a significant part of this campaign. Your multiple attacks will be your henchmen. If I allow multiple attacks I worry about handling time and having 15+ min...

Re: Infernal Crucible of Sezrekan the Mad - Austin, Texas (6
The area affect vs single target is a good point. I think it's worth noting that Magic Missile isn't against just a single target in many results. What's the functional difference between a 20'x20' fireball that catches 6 enemies and rolling a "4" on a Magic Missile result that produces 1...
