Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

This one has more details, but I based off a high res photo with lots of cool details (I've never seen a Japanese bit and bridle up close, and this was shown cleanly.) This is the Yabusame, or mounted archer samurai archetype. Distance and accuracy is his specialty rather than showers of arrows, but...

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

One more and I think I'm done for the day. For equal opportunity among the sexes, and in case any female gamers want to play samurai warriors in Kaidan, this is the example - Tomoe Gozan, a true samurai warrior from Japanese history. There is precedent if any ladies want to play samurai... http://ww...

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

This is the Kuge (samurai archetype) born in high family and destined to high station, as Kaidan rewards who you know, more than what you know. This guy gains samurai levels 2 levels later, getting more diplomacy and court training.

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

Some exciting illustrations and not-so-exciting samurai house crests for my upcoming Way of the Samurai supplement for Kaidan (PFRPG). I will be creating a few more illustrations, one for each of the new class archetypes included. I've still got to make one for Yojimbo (ranger archetype), Kuge (nobl...

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

Map similar to the last one, and dedicated as a sample samurai castle town for Way of the Samurai supplement for PFRPG which is currently in editing and I should get the manuscript soon for page layout and possible release in early April. Kawashi (river city) is a medium town of 2672 individuals, mo...

Re: Gamerprinter's Map Emporeum

Since Paizo's Jade Regent Adventure Path - #6 The Empty Throne has finally been released, I now have permission to post my original hand-drawn map for the City of Kasai, capital of the Minkai Empire, that Paizo commissioned me to create, so their inhouse cartographer could use it to reference, and k...

Re: Gamerprinter's Map Emporeum

I decided to participate in this month's Mapping Challenge at the Cartographers' Guild - create a dragon's lair. I used my photorealistic style for this (as something different) and there's all kinds of interesting details included, such as a half submerged ballista in the pool chamber - top center,...

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

Wow, In the Company of Henge has only been released for 1 day, and its managed to make the #11 spot on the DriveThruRPG.com top 100 products sold today!!!

I wonder where all the traffic is coming from - or which ad is leading them to purchase.

Amazing!

Re: Gamerprinter's Map Emporeum

Haven't posted any maps in a while. I decided to participate in this month's mapping challenge at the Cartographers' Guild as I hadn't done that in a while. The theme for the challenge was to create a Mountain Themed map. I opted to create a tengu village, called Akayama (red mountain). This is my h...

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

Thanks guys! I found where I was mentioned in one of the Paizo Seminars at Gen Con. This is the 'Writing for Paizo' seminar, about the very middle of the podcast Wes Schneider mentions a 'half Japanese author' - this is describing me. Strange, since I am primarily an artist, I have to say, I was hir...

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

I went to Gen Con on Saturday (1 day only) and finally got my hands on my 3 adventures printed through Cubicle 7 at both their booth and the Paizo booth. Oh and I'm now freelancing for Paizo for cartography - I met Wes Schneider, managing editor who assigned me the commission, and introduced me to t...

Re: Gamerprinter's Map Emporeum

The value at looking at old threads... After I got back from gaming last Saturday (or early Sunday morning) before I went to bed, I checked my Email and quickly visited some of the forums I visit and stopped here. I noticed the Orc Raid map on the bottom of page 1 of this thread as well as the 'cove...

Re: Members on the boards

I just peeked, I only have 80 posts, so I'm definitely not overly prolific here, but then I usually only post with my maps (which more and more are All Rights Reserved stuff, so I post less and less of that). Otherwise I am updating my status with my various projects I'm involved with. If I overly d...

Re: Gamerprinter's Map Emporeum

Well it seems my work on Kaidan has got me noticed. I am working on a map and the gazetteer for the last adventure of the Jade Regent AP for Paizo Publishing! I will be including at least one ghostly (Kaidan-like) encounter in that gazetteer.

Saturday night is our gaming night, at least for the past 30 years. We probably game 40 weeks a year. Switching between four houses of four out of six players. We play multiple games including a card or board game in the mix, basically from about 6 pm to 2 or 3 am.

Re: Feudal Japan Map Objects Project

So we were missing some extra Section 15 license data for the Kappa book, so it will be released tomorrow instead of today. We are now designing a couple one-shot adventures with Kaidan base class characters for use as demo games at this years conventions. We'll have various folks from Rite Publishi...
