Re: European stockists of new DCC RPG adventures

Which of your local game shops are stocking DCC stuff ?

Newcastle's Travelling Man is stocking The Emerald Enchanter, haven't checked on Forbidden Planet yet.

Mad Science !

Dammit, I'm going to have to run something like the AD&D 1e module 'Catapult Run' with TA/TG for a pulpy steampunk Wacky Races thang... The Kontraptions of Doktor (Lich) Dastardly. It MUST be done!

Does the DCC version of The Ruins of Ramat differ significantly from the C&C and LL versions ?

Re: Unarmored Warriors

The solution is already in the rules - DCC models the Appendix N fiction damn well.

Conan - mid level Warrior who has high Agility, who does a Defensive Deed if necessary and isn't afraid to Burn Luck.

Re: What adventures will be available when core book release

Based on rearranging some pages in the layout over the last couple days, it looks like there will be room to include the two Free RPG Day adventures from last year in the core book. (One was for level 0, the other for level 5, if you don't recall.) That would be in addition to DCC #66.5 for those w...

Re: I think standard monsters should not be in the rulebook.

In their place, I recommend giving half-a-dozen or so sample monsters, each one unique and nothing at all like any of the standards. A problem is that these monsters could become seen as canon - they become the standard monsters. I suppose I would rather have a list of monsters from Appendix N (and...

Re: Mighty Deeds for other classes

I prefer this: Player: "I want to trip him, umm what do I do?" GM: "Well how are you trying to trip him?" Player: "I want to roll between the ogre's legs and grab his belt from behind, then I will try to buckle his knee with a kick as I drag down on his belt to the floor" GM "Ok roll a dex check to ...

Re: Thieves, Luck and DCC RPG

Option Two is awful - in play you would end up having to define how a thief operates - by having to rule what is or isn't a thief skill you're narrowing the skill set to the Thief Skills (in capitals) and hamstringing audacious acts of improvisation. You constrain Cugel in a way that people would no...

I agree with this, having played and DM'd at 5th Level, all the little modifiers do add up, it's not equivalent to the old school power level at all.

Re: Mighty Deeds for other classes

Assign a difficulty (called shot difficulty of -8 is a good base for most deeds, -4 to -12 is a good range) and allow a save/ability check by the opponent to prevent it. This latter part is the key to the whole thing as no matter what the thief does with burning luck for instance, it is still not s...

Re: Mighty Deeds for other classes

These are just actions , repeatable actions that anyone could do more than once a day , even a non-adventurer like myself.... I think that's the problem right there - everyone should be able to attempt an action, but only a warrior should repeatedly be able to pull off one that is Mighty . Hypothet...

Re: Mighty Deeds for other classes

If the wizard is out of magic and the thief is out of luck I suggest they try to escape/find cover/buy some time etc. Gandalf knew when to scarper. ...and DCC wizard wouldn't stoop to 'trying to push someone with his staff' -that's lame and mundane - where's the glory, the outrageous display of mast...

Re: Mighty Deeds for other classes

Maybe to do a MDoA non-Warriors could Burn Luck by the same amount ?

This would put Thieves and Halflings at an advantage in straight combat to other non-warriors - but let's be honest, the Elf/Wizard is too busy Sleeping the opposition and slitting throats to care.

Has anyone spent much time with whimsical adventures? Are there any good ones already written that I might use for my group? I'd like to step away from the "kill it" adventures to try something new, but am not sure what's out there or if the rules are really ready to handle that style of play. Thou...
