Re: Class/Alignment combo mechanics?

As for clerics, their alignment determines weapon choice and what they can turn. Clerics can turn unholy creatures, not just un-dead, and the definition of "unholy" is defined by, of course, what their deity considers holy. Yes, your lawful cleric can turn a basilisk... Can elves and faer...

Re: Products you want from 3PP for the DCC RPG

Wilderlands, Wilderlands, and more Wilderlands. Did I mention Wilderlands? For me, I would say Wilderlands-style supplements, but not necessarily an update of the Judge's Guild IP. Tales from the Dying Earth, for instance, is full of gonzo sci-fi fantasy hex crawling action that would lend itself r...

Re: The DCC RPG and Spellslinging

That is a very cool approach you're taking - trying to strike a balance between playability and the subjective requirements of pacts and oaths with supernatural beings. I like how it's sounding.

Re: The DCC RPG and Spellslinging

I didn't know about that overt D&D and Doctor Strange connection - that's kinda funny they were outed. Yes - about CAS - I didn't even realize he *wasn't* part of the AD&D Appendix N until you just said so. He's in the Moldvay recommended reading (and Averoigne is explicit throughout the old...

Re: The DCC RPG and Spellslinging

So - can anyone tell me where in the Appendix N type stuff we get shields, and magic missiles, and slinging lightning bolts around? I just figured EGG and Co read too many Doctor Strange comics. As I think about how the DCC RPG would get back to the Sword & Sorcery roots, I'd be hoping for ritua...

Re: Designer's Blog #1: What It Is, And What It Isn't

What It Is, And What It Isn’t It is not compatible with 1970s/1980s D&D rules. It plays like a 1970s OD&D session. It is generally compatible with other d20-derived systems. Wow - those bullets are fairly astounding to me... a retro-game that is not a retro-clone, going it's own way here in...

Re: Appendix N, again

Interesting thread - I just started my own 'Appendix N' project this year (to catch up on all the fantasy reading I had missed) - and it's clear that it's going around! Gives me high hopes for the this DCC RPG, though November seems a long ways away. I like Jame's short list, having read these itali...
