Re: Rewards in Etherscope

When in the Scope itself; How do you spend money? If the Scope has no physical equipment or objects then money too surely has to be 'crafted' and this money cannot be transferred back into prime reality. So how do you retain any wealth you might make in the Scope? Spending money in the scope is lik...

Re: Challenge Ratings in the Scope

1st question. Would you automatically consider challenges in the scope at a low risk, since, although the combat maybe hot and heavy, it USUALLY doesn't cause the characters terminal harm? So that would apply, if I'm remembering correctly, the 1/4 CR adjustment? Risk doesn't need to be physical. If...

The adventures included in the core book will be too short for what I need. My local RPG group runs games in eight week rotations. I therefore need an adventure long enough to fill out eight evening sessions. Although Cinnamon Rose is short (it was written for convention play) it contains the seeds...

3 New Values

[These have been floating about in the back of my mind for a while, so natural they finally come out when I've got other things I should be writing.] New Values Faith Religion is the cornerstone of Victorian life. Despite the growing power of the government and big business, the church remains a per...

I was planning to do an adventure based on the exploration of the North West passage actually. I just wanted more details than what is on page 187 in Etherscope. Alaska is still controlled by Russia. And, although it isn't very productive (just a bunch of useless petrol and moose), it has some tact...

Not enough for you? Try: Pacific Islands: Post-Pacific War cargo cults, islands governed by mutineers, whalers, sea monsters, noble savages. The Outback: Aborigines who go walkabout into the Scope, bunyips, drop bears, Lemurian artifacts, Uluru. North Africa and Arabia: Nomads, T.E. Lawrence wannabe...

Etherspace is big... no bigger than that... really, really big. Seriously, once you're outside of the Scope and into open Etherspace the concepts of distance and velocity have little meaning; "skill" becomes the biggest factor in how long a trip takes. (Don't think too hard about it, it on...

Victorian Ettiquette

From Hints on Etiquette (1834): 1. In all cases, the observances of the Metropolis (as the seat of refinement) should be received as the standard of good breeding. 2. Never make acquaintances in coffee houses or other public places. As no person who respects himself does so, you may reasonably suspe...

Things I like to see (slash write  ): 1) A High Society Upload (a la U: Etherpunk). How to run an upper class, political game (i.e. more talk, less fight). Plus crunch for blue bloods and their "faithful" servants. 2) A Military handbook (in the syle of MotO). How to run a military-b...
