Re: Posting Castle Whiterock Conversions to Pathfinder

Wow I can't believe my last post on this subject was in August. What a year! Tomorrow night is our first game in the Pathfinder/Castle Whiterock campaign! I have been working on converting up the Slavers of the Iron Manacle to PFRPG rules (Man, Ikenvar on enlarge person is going to be BAD) as well a...

Re: Posting Castle Whiterock Conversions to Pathfinder

Wow that's a MONSTER side campaign! O yeah? You should see our REGULAR campaign! Actually this side campaign is more of an excuse to try out Castle Whiterock as a long-term option. I've already borrowed a few bits and pieces of it for the main campaign; I look forward to players catching the connec...

Re: Posting Castle Whiterock Conversions to Pathfinder

Sweet! It may take me a while (I don't know if you've heard but Castle Whiterock is somewhat horkin' large!) but when I get at least through conversions of the first book I'll let you know. Is there some template I should be using for the PF OGL disclaimer at the end? At EnWorld they used a conversi...

Posting Castle Whiterock Conversions to Pathfinder

Hi folks! I'm getting ready to run Castle Whiterock as a side campaign for my regular Pathfinder group - boy I can't wait! Back in the day, sites like ENWorld used to keep a library of D&D3.5 conversions to old 1st/2nd edition modules; purely the mechanical stuff like statlines and updated class...

Re: Alternate use of Castle Whiterock

No, the group has a bad history with the derro vamp with mutual serious grudges, so after irritating them incessantly for a couple months with this guy I need to give them some closure while furthering the main campaign thread. I did consider putting Gorakhan into the arena to fight alongside him, b...

Re: Supporting multiple systems within the DCC's

I'm afraid to say that when 4e came out GG went belly-up for me, too. It was a painful separation, but I had little choice after reviewing 4e. For me the system just doesn't work. Instead I jumped on the Pathfinder bandwagon and my group is in the midst of conversion from 3.5 to that system right no...

Alternate use of Castle Whiterock

Though I would love to run a Whiterock campaign, my availability (as well as that of my players) is extremely limited. So what I've done is incorporate parts of CW into the ongoing campaign. Specifically, I've planted Thane Vejik's redoubt and the Bleak Theater into the game close to the drow city o...

My mind drifts back to a chance perusal of Greyhawk Ruins, an oft-overlooked 30+ level dungeon for characters from 2nd to 15th level and up. Literally an entire campaign under one roof. I, of course, had to buy it. Even today I must still my greedy, clutchy DM hands from sneaking over to the keyboar...

I think you're right on target there, big guy! Our player group has been running together for almost 20 years now. There's way too much world-building in the standard market, and Wizards itself seems to be falling back into the old TSR habit of proliferating game settings. This is what turned AD&...

I fifth the request! I just got the Wiz book and it rocks. Puts all those 120 page D&D "supplement" handbooks to shame. Your book on rogues is going to have to be HUUUUUGE. (Why a book on Warriors, though? They're just ugly meat sacks that exist to protect the precious spellcasters in ...

The drawing of the Oracle Room from Crypt of the Devil Lich.

The most unnerving things I can encounter as a player are things that "just don't look right." In a dungeon full of weird stuff, this room was the most unsettling one in the module, and the art got the flavor just right.

Yes I'm a boring rulesmonger

Hey, I've noticed in several of your adventures that some NPCs (particularly the non-Core PC races) don't quite jive with the character creation rules. For example, looking at Shae'mae the locathah druid from DCC#7, her saves should be a bit buffier (is that a word?) and her skills should be toned d...
