Re: Problems with DCC47 Tears of the Genie :SPOILERS
Phil, Thanks so much for your responses. I'm greatly enjoying running the module, and except for the issues enumerated that I found problematic, I think it is very creative and well-done. I realize that the teleporters are two-way, but the emphasis on them only being active for twenty-four hours mad...

Problems with DCC47 Tears of the Genie :SPOILERS
Hello all, I've been running my group through DCC47 Tears of the Genie for several sessions now, and I thought I would share my niggling concerns with an otherwise very well-written and challenging module. I should mention that when I am running prepared materials, I like everything spelled out so t...

They did it
My players finally entered Rathulagon's lair last session. The Barbarian and the Rogue went to scout the bridge. Halfway across the Barbarian fell into the water and the Rogue managed to catch the railing. A lightning bolt hit the water and an electrified chainmail-wearing Barbarian began sinking to...

Censer details?
Hello again, My players still have not had their confrontation with Rathulagon, but unless things go terribly awry, it should go down tomorrow. Last session they hacked through the Aurumvorax with only one player coming near death. I originally logged on to post some questions about the Censer of We...

Rested and ready for Rathulagon
My party of one fifth and four sixth level characters have been mowing through DCC26. All they have left is 3-13 through 3-16. The players have found no trouble resting throughout the caves despite this quote from an earlier post on this thread: "There are few "safe havens" in the cav...

My players wanted loot
I made the genie very persuasive about how he would be forced to kill everyone in the party if they attempted to take the treasure, all in a friendly, jolly way. My players didn't know anything about Djinnis, so they took the threats seriously. However, they were so pissed at having been endessly br...

Thanks to you
Thanks, Harley. Fortunately you made Wildsgate Keep such an effective home base that I am having an easy time spinning adventures off of the party's stay there. Just because the players are helping the Regent track down Lady Aborn, does not mean that they trust the Regent, so there is still plenty o...

The Mysterious Tower defeated by another party
My players finally defeated the Mysterious Tower. I segued from DCC#28 by having the Regent tell the players that Lady Aborn probably fled to the Mysterious Tower to gain some magic to overthrow Wildsgate Keep. The Necromantic Wizard in the party was only to happy to investigate the tower. The party...

Great story
Hey,
Thanks for writing this adventure out. Very humorous retelling that was quite enjoyable. I'm starting to run this module tonight with my players.

Interesting results
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm surprised that the Witchdoctor, even at 6th level, didn't prove that difficult. I'll be curious to see if my players do much sneaking, or just hack their way through.
Thanks,

Vale of Dolls portion of DCC 28 ***SPOILERS****
Hello all, The group of adventurers I'm DMing has just mopped up the "Cabal of the Dark Rider" portion of DCC 28 and are outside the stockade of the savage raiders. With they NPC they are 4 third-level characters: Barbarian, Cleric, Ranger, Wizard. I thought long and hard about scaling upw...

Thanks for the recap
None the Wiser, Appreciate the recap. I'm still debating about whether or not to make the Drow and the Half-Orc 2nd level or not. I created templates for both of them and with the Drow's additional spells, they now have a much better chance of getting away from the players. I feel like the players r...

Another cool Azubal fight
Those dice sure can make or break an encounter, can't they? I played in my friend's campaign last night and he was rolling criticals against the party all night! Sounds like your party's Azubal encounter was a fun fight, nonetheless. At least Azubal knocked someone unconscious. Ogrepuppy, thanks for...

None the Wiser and Ogre Puppy, Thanks for the stories. Love to hear how different versions of the same adventure are run. Now that my PCs are heroes and they were promised a "ceremony" to honor them I have to figure out how to handle it. By Friday. IK PS None the Wiser, I thanked you in th...

This is so cool! I wanted a sense of Wildsgate and my crude renderings were nothing like this. Thank you for posting these. I am currently running a group in Wildsgate and these visualizations are a great aid.

Thanks for the link! I never would have found this. This is so much better than the crude renderings I made to try to make some sense of the Wildsgate layout in my head.

Azubal as recurring nightmare
Ogrepuppy, Thanks for the idea of Azubal as recurring villain. I will have to give that some thought. Harley, I took eighteen years off because I didn't know anyone I wanted to game with. I always had to teach everyone how to play and always had to be the DM in my adolescence. At a certain point I l...

Players don't like dying but scaring them is fun
I totally appreciate having uber-tough encounters in adventures. I have always believed that a fantasy environment should include things way above just what players of a certain level can comfortably defeat. I never thought it was fun that characters would only ever encounter things on their level a...

Did Azubal kill them all?
So, the players survived their encounter with Azubal. I decided to have him sit tight through the night and let them come to him. He thinks he's so tough and he can take them all on. The players slept in the spire to heal and get spells back. I had one Dire bat and rider attack them on the way acros...

Good ideas, thanks!
Ogrepuppy, Thanks for the input. You certainly gave me some other ways to handle the encounter that I hadn't thought of. My concern about killing the party is that I feel there haven't been any clues for them to ignore yet. There was a goblin shaman mumbling something but no one in the party speaks ...

Is it fair to sick Azubal on them? *SPOILERS*
Hello, I have a group of four 2nd level characters currently hacking their way through the Goblin spire in the Foehammer range in DCC28. Largely due to a raging PC barbarian they managed to hack their way just shy of the final spire where Azubal resides. They now want to go back to the upper room of...
