Re: super secret project/gary con
i would disagree about lankhmar magic being ritualistic. for example, mouser slays the duke during torture session in the unholy grail. also, hristomilo obviously casts choking cloud and animal summoning :p Yeah well I suppose it depends on what's your definition of "ritual." To me a ritu...

Re: super secret project/gary con
I think it may be a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" thing, depending upon how different the rules turn out to be. If you put the new rules into a full-out rulebook, folks will complain about having to re-buy the rules. If you make a boxed set with only the rules changes in it, fol...

That's very cool! I am not playing DCC, but I might give it a try again with Lankhmar.

Re: Next Printing/Animate Dead
Hello, Has the list of changes for the next printing of the DCC core rulebook been finalized? If not, I'd like to make suggestion for a minor change. I think it would be a good idea to add the cleric spell "Animate Dead" to the table of wizard spells on page 127. It should have an asteris...

Re: Stomp the typo / Errata & FAQ
But there are typos and there are typos. So I was gob-smacked to read rabindranath72's praising of Mongoose Publishing. The typos produced by Mongoose in ALL of their publications, kick you in the eye, usually within the first page. They even proudly provide preview copies of their books which cont...

Re: "A Benign and Malevolent God"
That is pretty sweet. It would also look good on a t-shirt along with the "compatible with DCC RPG" logo. Actually, just the 'compatible' logo, done big, would make a fun shirt... Actually, that had occured to me as well. Simple, and promotes the game. The problem is, how do I get ...

Re: Stomp the typo / Errata & FAQ
Rather than just feeling unhappy about it, though, what would you propose that Goodman Games now does? What do you think would be fair? RC Sure there are some companies for which bugs are "features" (I won't make names, but you probably know them; at the 4th printing of their books THERE ...

Re: Stomp the typo / Errata & FAQ
To be honest I feel ripped off. That's a pretty large list of errata, whole blocks of text missing, no index, and a 2nd printing almost out to fix all of it. It's quite clear that the book should have had at least another editing pass. I strongly feel I should not have pre-ordered, and I will not l...

Re: Known Worlds anyone?
When I am going to run DCC next, I am using the Basic D&D module B10, Night's Dark Terror. It describes the central part of the Grand Duchy of Karameikos, so it's both setting and campaign information. One of the best D&D modules for every edition of D&D.

Re: DCC and AD&D
If I manage to put together a group, I will choose the B10 module, Night's Dark Terror, as a setting AND campaign book for DCC. The "feel" is very close to DCC, and the setting is quite small and contained with lots of stuff going on behind the scenes.

Yup. That's "proper" English. Dwarves is a "Tolkien invention" when referring to the race in his setting. In fact, Warhammer FRP (a Very English RPG) has always used "dwarfs."Flexi wrote:dwarfs?!?

Re: Stomp the typo!
Some other points needing clarification/correction 1) Mounted Combat. It's specified that trained characters get +2 to the roll, but there are already training rules, by which a trained character rolls d20, an untrained one rolls d10. 2) Undead are specified as being immune to hold . But there is no...

Re: Stomp the typo!
RADColin, are those errata "official"? I spotted a few more problems: 1) p20 Demihumans are said to speak their racial tongue only if they have Int 8+, but elsewhere the text is not clear, and it seems they speak them automatically. 2) p32 Otyughs are mentioned in Turn Unholy, but I can't ...

Re: Gary Gygax wrote my gaming manifesto back in 1975.
The evolution from "GM knows all" to "player knows all" is an interesting one in the development newer editions of D&D, and I'll confess that once the players know too much I think the magic goes out of the game. It no longer becomes a battle against the unknown, but a chall...

Re: Gary Gygax wrote my gaming manifesto back in 1975.
Considering the later AD&D and subsequent games he wrote, I wonder how much Gary changed his mind, or simply realised that the number of players interested in a more "codified" approach to games was the largest majority. Myself, I don't like having to consistently come up with new rule...

Re: DCC: Warhammer
What do people think about using the DCC rules to run the Warhammer 'Enemy Within Campaign?' What with DCC not being tied to a setting, I think it would work a treat. But are there any rules in the game for character insanity? My friend things this is important in the Warhammer world, and the campa...

Re: Stomp the typo!
Not to sound flippant, too; but while not having to roll anything at all is perfectly fine (I don't come from a 3e background, so I don't have any habit to break; my go-to D&D is Mentzer D&D), I am simply speaking about what is written in the book, and Joseph hasn't answered why two differen...

Re: Stomp the typo!
Regarding perception type checks, this is also based on the specific situation. To me, a passive Listen or even Spot check ought to be based on Luck, but actively searching or trying to hear something is better left to Intelligence. DCC skills are supposed to be pretty loose, so if you as a judge t...

Re: Stomp the typo!
Possible errata and typo: why on Earth would Listening be based on Luck, whereas Searching and Spotting is based on Intelligence?! Luck seems to be quite prone to go down and up, would this mean that a character becomes deaf or improve his skill at listening? Even admitting that Listening is mostly ...

Re: Zocchi DIce Poll
A fresh X-Acto blade and some fine sandpaper took care of the d10 and the d8, and some 5-minute epoxy filled in the chunk in the d4, but needless to say I wasn't thrilled to have to do any work on dice that were supposed to be "Precision". I've never actually used them in a game because o...
