Dungeon Crawl Classics #1:
Idylls of the Rat King
An Adventure for Character Levels 1-3

Remember the golden days of role playing, when adventures were underground,
NPCs were there to be killed, and the finale of every dungeon was the dragon
on the 20th level? Well, those days are back. Dungeon Crawl Classics feature
bloody combat, intriguing dungeons, and no NPCs who aren't meant to be
killed. Each adventure is 100% good, solid dungeon crawl, with the monsters
you know, the traps you fear, and the secret doors you know must be there
somewhere.
In Idylls of the Rat King, goblin bandits are once again attacking the
silver caravans, killing innocent miners and stealing cargo. The goblins
have taken up residence in an abandoned mine northwest of Silverton. Someone
must get rid of them. But this is no ordinary abandoned mine. It was deliberately
barricaded generations ago when the Gannu family, founders of Silverton,
discovered an unspeakable evil on its lowest levels. And these are no ordinary
goblins, for the curse of the Gannu family courses through their veins...

World: 5 stars. "As the first in the Dungeon Crawl Classics I am pleased
to say that it is as good or better then many of the fifty plus that have
followed it. It is written for third edition D&D but many of the encounter
areas can be brought together to form the larger areas that the fourth
edition game favors."

Resource: "If you are looking for a low-level adventure full of excitement
and strenuous combat, in a well-designed situation where everyone has a
good reason to fight, then look no further!"

World: 5 stars. "With crisp, clean artwork and layout, plus an engaging
story, Idylls of the Rat King is one of the best D&D adventures I've
seen in a while. Goodman Games has managed to resurrect all the good qualities
of first-edition D&D here, while leaving all the dross behind. No pretention;
no dead-weight detail -- just straight-ahead, sword-and-sorcery fun. I
give it my highest recommendation."

Fan Review: 4 stars. "I thought it was excellent, for what it was designed
to be: A "dungeon hack" with traps and a number of different enemies to
hack up. I've been a player for 15 years and as far as a good hack n slash
module goes, this one is very good."

GameWyrd: "This reviewer,
someone who'd not normally touch a dungeon crawl with a pointy stick, can
honestly put his hands up and say that Idylls of the Rat King scores a
hit; it's on the ball. I can see Idylls providing an easy evening of fun."

World fan review: “It was a pleasure to add and alter this adventure.
What made it nice was that the module itself needed little or no work and
the possibilities for expansion were obvious and easily done. So a fun
and solid module that can be picked up and run on the spot with more than
one sessions play contained within the 32pages.”
